The new version definitely seems faster, but I have to concur with others, I miss the having the transfer activity show. Having to keep opening the Transfer Activity Window to see if I'm "done" is a pain in the butt. Last night I had to move 3 separate sets of 60 files and having to repeatedly take the extra Ctrl-T
step to check process got old REAL fast. Scott, please remember not everyone has a super fast in-the-big-city Internet connection and upload/downloads may take a while.

You don't have to go into the Transfer Activity Window to always see what is going on. We also output this information in the status bar too.

Well, that's different. Why didn't you say so in the first place? I withdrawal my complaint. :)

Mr Scott-
Okay I changed my progress bar to a red thing so it is more apparent. As long as it keeps flashing "you're not done yet" even when my Internet connect pauses periodically while processing to connect to the Satellite (guess whose livin' out in the boomies) I can live with this version. I found the scribble in the lower left corner to be too cryptic to be of any practical use. I still miss the old version showing the individual files process as they upload/download. Watching them disappear as they completed showed me that things hadn't gone to la-la land. Please make it a selectable option again. And for the record, I'm addicted to Diet-Pepsi.

I have to agree with most posts here, I really miss the permanent activity window at the bottom of the screen. A popup window has a nasty habit of popping up on the wrong monitors on a multi-monitor environment.

I agree with McShay about watching the individual files as they upload/download. That feature is also greatly missed.

I agree with those who preferred the old way of showing activity. The new way of showing progress is a giant step backwards in my opionion. I've been using Direct ftp for a LONG time, its one of the first programs I got from Coffee Cup getting on for 10 years ago. For the first time in all those years I find myself switching to Filezilla so I can see whats happening with my transfers.

The CTRL-T doesn't always seem to work, sometimes you have to hit it twice to get the window to pop up, the 'busy graphic' isn't much of a consolation. I really wish I'd kept a copy of the previous versions installer so I could go back :-(

I've read the article that explains the reasons for the change. Couldn't the pop-up transfer window have been an option should you want to edit files while transferring? Could the pop up be made dockable or made to optionally pop up in front when you re-focus the ftp app? Or minimize to the task bar so we can just pop up the transfer window instead of having to pop back up the ftp program and thump ctrl-t a couple of times?

Andy

Have you also noticed that with the new system you cannot cancel a single file that is part of a batch? Say for example you drag an entire folder to your site and half way through you happen to notice its taking a while and you spot that there is a large file included thats not needed.

In the old version you could highlight that one file, right click and cancel it. In the new one you can only cancel the whole of a batch.

Sadly my ftp is too important to me and I'm going to have to retire Direct ftp and buy a copy of 3d-ftp so I can have the decent transfer window, editing and other nice features.

Sure you can. See screenshot of something that is batch uploading and downloading.
