Attached a s peedtest from speetest.net. This is my normal speeds, but I also notice that Direct FTP is very slow when uploading - moreso when using in standalone mode as opposed to from within Visual Site Designer.

Yep still the same here too, most recent version still really slow upload compared to using HTML Editor, or any other programs that have the ftp built in from CC.

There is definitely something wrong with CoffeeCup Direct FTP. I started it uploading a folder of photos to my web site. I have Verizon FIOS with 10 Mbs upload speed. Direct FTP seemed really slow, about 220 KB/sec (that is KBytes/sec). I had a lot of photos, it was easily going to take an hour. While that was going on I got into FileZilla and started an upload of another folder of photos onto the same web site. FileZilla was uploading 2 photos at a time, each about 550 KB/sec.

While FileZilla was uploading I changed its max simultaneous uploads from 2 to 5. FileZilla immediately began uploading 5 photos at a time and seemed to maintain the same 550 KB/sec speed.

While Direct FTP was uploading I changed its max number transfers running at the same time from 2 to 5 and it had no visible effect.

Is it slow on purpose -- as a kindness to hosting services?

It is slower. I can't tell you why, though.
CoffeeCup... Yeah, they are the best!

Well I don't think it's totally what my problem is unfortunately :/

I just downloaded Filezilla, never tried it before, nice looking program, but....

Same issue there, so it's definitely got to be on my end, and I've no idea what else to try. I'm on AT&T DSL 6.0 Mb connection, my modem has a built in Router which I "tried" to setup to allow the Direct FTP program a while back when I first posted this thread, but that didn't' do anything to change it. Here's a couple screen shots, first one is CC Direct FTP speed and 2nd one is Filezilla speed. Same file, same directories being uploaded from and to.

Any other ideas would still be appreciated as this is pretty annoying. And it's still strange that the uploads via the in program setups (meaning not ftp programs, but programs like CC's Web Jukebox definitely upload at least 5 times the speed of the FTP programs. Passive mode doesn't seem to affect anything at all for anything really so I have it off.

Hiya Scott co,

Thanks for trying, I downloaded it and it actually ran slower than the other 2 by about 10-15 kb/s lol. It's definitely my computer, and it's spanned between Windows XP which i had a little over a month ago for a bunch of years, and now Windows 7 so it's not windows doing anything that I'm aware of.

I have been checking out my internet account to see just what I "should" be able to upload, and I guess maybe it's all because of this because I think I misunderstood what it meant. According to AT&T's website my account says I should have:

FastAccess DSL Xtreme 6.0
6 Mbps/512 Kbps
Maximum Downstream/Upstream

And now that I look at that, I was assuming that was 512 Kilobytes per sec, but I bet that is Kilobits so if that's the case then I guess I'm where my internet says I should be if I'm uploading around 50 KB/sec?

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
