Go for it and start over. The new version is still in beta and It might take a few weeks to actually hit the general public, but I know it is out there being worked on. So I don't know if I would wait for the new one if you want a new site pronto.

Here is a website I build with VSD and it has tons of graphics. I had similar problems. But when I cleaned the server off and reload, it worked great. I built this one back in 2006 and I think I have changed it a couple of times since then.

If you need help with getting VSD connected to your server, many of us in here can help you out with making sure you have the right settings.

Hmmmm, well it actually looks like my version of VSD is up to date. Maybe tomorrow I will try to start a new site from scratch with it, new graphics and all....clean out all the folders. Should I just copy all my old folders (I still have even older folders from the really old versions, because yes, I had to resave in the newer version) to my external hard drive as a backup.....anything else I need to delete? Just delete the whole folder that says "website name v6"? And then click create new site or whatever? Or are there files elsewhere that I need to delete, besides the ones on the server? Do I just directly delete the ones that are actually on the server?

You still think it's better to directly upload via VSD and not directftp? Everytime? Or just the first time?

Thanks,
T.

On your hard drive, just rename the current directory where your files are and call it something like old_website name.

Then create a new directory and place all your graphics you are going to use in it. Then open up VSD and start building a new site from scratch. Then save you new site under the new directory on your hard drive.

I would not delete your old website off the server until you finish your new site and are ready to upload it. I personally would just use the ftp built into VSD.

Have fun and let your creativeness shine through :)

I'm creating a new webpage.....and I've gotten a bit of the homepage done. When I click "save" it says "cannot save homepage". I'm just trying to save the site.

Ok. I've started my newly designed site. So far so good (except for the little "cannot save homepage" glitch I had)! It's fine now :) I still haven't used the sync within VSD yet. Still used hostway's ftp. Will continue with the design...hopefully it will all stay the way it should!

Tanya-
Yes, I've had this happen to me a couple of times after uploading the site from VSD. Usually when it asks if you want to delete files no longer in use from the server. For some reason it will delete current, in use pictures and shapes from my site and require the entire files folder to be rebuilt and uploaded again. As far as the different text in boxes, are you using advanced text to place the text into the shape itself or adding a text box over the shape? Using advanced text in the shape will keep the text as a .jpg file and won't change looks from browser to browser.
Good Luck
