Google Chrome Not Opening in VSD -...

Is anyone having an issue using Google Chrome as a preview browser in VSD? I had been using it for the last several weeks with no problem, that is until today.

Now when I try to preview with it, I get an error message "Application unable to start correctly (0xc00000a5). Click OK to close application.

This just started today and no changes that I am aware of have been made. FF and IE still have no problem.

I posted about the the same thing in Sept.... didn't get any response from it. I tried reinstalling VSD and Chrome.... disapeared for a short while but came back.

I would take this approach
Make sure Chrome opens normally
Go to VSD Preview side control and see if Google Chrome is there. Choose it and try the preview. It may be that the defaults got changed. You mentioned FF and IE. If Chrome is there then it may be necessary to redo the add browser. An browser update may have caused it. Also check which is the default browser.
I cannot duplicate the error.
Best of luck

Just tried it as soon as I read this, got the same error.
Found this on the Chrome site, haven't tried anything yet:

Just checked my settings per the above link. Chrome was set for XP compatibility mode – changed it to Windows 7 and it worked. :D

OK, I did some more playing around with it after reading all your posts. What I did find is that Chrome was not running in compatibility mode for Windows 7. I set mode for Windows 7 and I also found that my Avast anti virus may have also had something to do with it as it creates an extension in Chrome. I disabled that and it looks like addressing those two issues have for now solved the problem.

Thanks all for you ideas and tips. That's why I love CC. Greatest forums ever.

I just made an extra copy of my XP disk. If it was not for profit MS would have stuck with an XP update.

I am boss of my computer with no stupid questions about administrator rights and so far every program works on install. XP rules. Also I thought compatibility was for backwards settings only. You are saying the latest version of Chrome does not work in the latest version of Windows. Or is it that Chrome now is more advanced than Win7. It works in XP without problems and actually loads faster for me than my son who sports the fastest Win7 computer with a super fast graphics card using my wireless internet connection. I am afraid the rot set in starting with Vista.

Actually I also have a Vista notepad and I am considering dumping Vista, Win95 was faster on a P3

Yes, Chrome does work with Windows 7. There is a compatibility setting in the properties menu that apparently needs to be set when using with VSD anyway. Whatever, it works. No problem.
