Oh boy. I never change my browser default settings and would never had thought of that. I'm glad you figured it out while you still have hair on your head. :)

I always have problems upload. Can somebody explain how to manually upload the files using filezilla or something similar. Do we HAVE to use the Visual Site Designer upload feature?

Free ft is fairly self explanatory, must be as i managed to use it , in CC free stuff page

But first check your VSD settings, passive mode might help, also switching off your firewall often solves problems

Hiya Todd,

Since you've posted the same thing in another thread, I would suggest you put in a Support Ticket to CC Team and get help with your upload issue. Although it's possible to use the FTP program for uploading, it's still better to use the built in ftp system of the programs you are using so that you make sure you get every file that is supposed to be uploaded. This goes doubly for VSD and the shopping cart systems. I'm sure there's just some mistyped or just the wrong settings in your ftp settings for VSD that are probably pretty easy to get corrected. Try the support team and they will get you worked out :)

Hi All, I was receiving the same error message & opened a ticket, this is what Coffeecup support told me...(you can find this post earlier in the year) hope this helps.

....The "error occurred during uploading" message can be caused by several different things, but they all boil down to an interruption during the transfer process. First, make sure you've disabled all firewall applications on your system. Firewalls can block both outbound and inbound traffic. Next, try switching to the Passive Mode setting under Settings > FTP Settings > Advanced. Some servers will only allow connections and/or transfers if the FTP client is connected in a specific mode.

If you're still having problems after this, contact your host provider and ask them if there is a global timeout function that may be disconnecting the FTP client. If so, see if the host administrators can increase the timeout function to allow Visual Site Designer more time to upload.

I've been searching for an answer, as I'm encountering this same 'error' issue when uploading through VSD ftp; e.g. it error's out when getting to .jpg (Reference) files. I'm currently using VSD 6.06 being that I started out designing in this version and after hearing of some issues in VSD 7.0 (basically I want to get my site launched initially before upgrading to VSD 7).

My ftp settings are correct through Yahoo Web Hosting, and I've even tried the CC Free FTP, which works better but still has issues in the form of: slow upload speed (DSL 3Mbps service); some files error out such as .swf, and .jpg's. Firewall is off during transfer to note. This would be a good place to pause and ask the second half of my uploading issues:

I've added a few Firestarter (Flash) files and Web Video Player Movie (.flv) files to my site. VSD has created additional subdirectory "_files" folders under the root directory of my website in VSD that contain these .flv movie files along with some created web vid player skin image files. Question is: are these files to remain in their perspective subfolders under the root directory for uploading to the server? Or does VSD conveniently create these for the purpose of order and therefore I must move these individual files out of their subdirectories and directly into the root directory thus deleting the added subfolders?

I ask this because when uploading through CC free FTP or simply VSD's ftp, these added subdirectories seem to not register as legit.

Windows XP SP3
VSD 6.06
DSL Connection
Yahoo Web Hosting

Any help would be most appreciated as I'm getting really burned out on just trying to make all these past months of site building worth while.

P.S. I was able to upload some pages and files, but not all. For now, using VSD and it's built-in ftp, I've uploaded a basic 'under construction' home page as stand in.

HI Matthew,
I had Yahoo and the same problem, so I couldn't actually blame VSD. I also found VSD to be slow (with yahoo) when I added and videos or jukebox , hec flash for that same reason of being to slow, having XP SP3 myself. What I use to do was paste the code onto the page and upload using which ever program I was using, this way less stress on VSD as far as uploading. Sometimes I've even gone as far as added my web video using the flash tool, so I was able to preview it, and once I got that straightened out, I would go to settings, remove files and remove all the files for whatever project but kept the code in place.
It was almost like VSD timed out , but that is what I did when I had Yahoo for the most part.

When you add a web video project, Web jukebox project, of course your going to have a folder with the buttons, flv, or mp3, skins (subdirectory) with the html, swf, xml outside the folder in the root directory.
I made a while ago but it still stands today, maybe this will help you understand the file structure of VSD a little better. :)

If you notice when you upload and you get an error, I would suggest finding exactly what it stops on, as you say, an image, swf, or just times out. then maybe one of the duplicates are bad, what I would try would be clearing out the website folder of the doubles.

worth a shot

Hey Bruzer,

You're lead was correct and thus it required me cleaning out the odd and unused files from my VSD website folder to get things clicking right. VSD sure is particular, which is a good thing! I got the site uploaded without a hitch, although my web forms aren't emailing and are displaying email errors (not CC's fault though). I'll fix it when I have a chance. Also, my tweet button needs tweeked :-)

Anyway, aside from small refinements to the site, it's up and I'm pleased with it. CC has been a tremendous help and a wonderful software to use.

In case you're curious here's the link: wordreach.org. Obviously it's a ministry site.

Again, thanks Bruzer for all your help and cool tutorials to go along with it. CC should put you on salary ;)
