The dialog box that is shown in the attached picture has all of a sudden started showing up when I publish my sites. I've never seen it before, and apparently I should never be seeing it.

Anyone have any idea why this would suddenly be appearing?

Thanks,

Galen

I asked our developer on this and he says "THAT IS NOT SUPPOSED TO SHOW". ;)

His recommendation was to uninstall and reinstall the software and see if that helps.

To me it is totally foreign to the program. I would inspect the element of the page that displays it if server side. If so something is triggering that message. Possibly adding itself to the pages prior to publishing.

You could save your present site and go back to a previously saved copy and see if it still happens. Is it Server side or a message on your system. I am curious as I guess others are.

Well, amazingly enough, it's gone. Didn't do anything. Popped up one day, the next it's gone.

Go figure!

That normally has to do with a page cache file. Basically if you computer is overloaded with process' it will show dialog that should never be shown. I had it happen to me on a old computer with Window 98 and it showed me a box named "Invisible: You can not see me." At first I thought it was a virus then looked up some articles about it and they told me that my computer was processing to much information and that box appeared because my CPU was so slow it got stuck and did not completely finish loading the file.

Spoke too soon. It's back. So I did an uninstall and then reinstall, but it did not change anything.

I click the publish button, it prepares the files, and then right before starts the actual transfer the window pops up and remains there until the publishing process is complete.

System has 16GB RAM, and a core I7 Extreme processor. So I think it really is a VSD issue. Never see anything like it except in the publishing process of VSD. When I click OK to finish the publish process it goes away.

As a side note, When I start VSD I now have the "Link Properties" and the "Page Properties" both appear. That never happened before either.

Here's a couple of screen shots. If I click on the OK button or Cancel button in the Dummy Dialog nothing happens. Only when I click OK in the Finished publishing dialogue box.

Again, any insigt into this is appreciated.

The plot thickens. Scott said "THAT IS NOT SUPPOSED TO SHOW". Which seems to imply that the message does exist but should not display. I place messages in code to check functions sometimes forgetting to remove them. As it is not a normal event this is an approach I would make. Uninstall again and delete any remaining VSD files. Download a fresh copy of VSD and install that.
Check the results and report. Something is triggering a message "THAT IS NOT SUPPOSED TO SHOW".
I believe you have a very isolated problem no one else has reported that to my knowledge. I think a clean install is the best option

I have completed a complete uninstall/reinstall. The "Dummy Dialog" box continues to appear.

Scott, any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Galen

Galen, clutching at straws here, and this is going to sound like a very strange suggestion, but its cured numerous problems for me in the past (got idea from a programmer techie friend)

If you open a new user account in windows, transfer the VSD into it, and run it in there see if the problem goes away.

It gets rid of any dodgy set up problems
