As some hosts are switching to restrict ftp to secure connections. Can anyone fill me in on the requirements and what is necessary to ftp files in this case. Curiosity has this cat by the tail.

Nothing.

The HTTPS is just a secured connection to the Web Server.

The S in HTTPS is simple a SSL and a SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer. SSL is a secure encryption Web protocol used to make data safe when transmitted over the Internet.

Yahoo hosting is switching to this in September....

VSD does not support sFTP or FTPs. When they make the switch, you will no longer be able to publish through VSD directly. What you would have to do is you an FTP program to upload your website files manually each time you make changes.

So Scott are there plans afoot to handle this within VSD as I should imagine the ftp engine is very similar to the FTP programs you sell.

Not currently at this time. Adding that is not quite as simple as it may sound. Someday perhaps, but not in the foreseeable future.
