Will the CoffeeCup software solve my...

I have two websites that I built with Expression Web 4 that now look outdated. After a long delay in editing my websites, I'd like to redesign them and make them responsive. If it's possible I'd like to retrofit my sites with a RWD template. Even though my skill in html and css has diminished, would the CoffeeCup software enable me to make these changes without turning my hair white?

Hi Tom,
I haven't seen your sites and don't know how many back end scripts you have but I know CC's RLM or RSD will let you rebuild your sites to be responsive with relative ease.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

This is a site I built for my work.(RSD)

This is my personal site used for testing and as an easy way to share photos.(RLM imported to RSD)

It's good to refresh/update your sites every few years anyway. They get "stale" quickly.
—And a non-responsive site practically screams "I'm way past my prime!".

Why don't you grab a free trial for Responsive Layout Maker Pro and give it a go? If you're still familiar some HTML and CSS, you're going to find it pretty easy to move on to the newer HTML5/CSS3 additions.

You might want to have a look at some responsive sites to see how different layouts/designs for various screen sizes work. This would give you a good idea of what the breakpoints (media queries) in RLMP make possible. RLMP also has some layouts to get you started.

If I buy the Responsive Layout Maker Pro will I also need the HTML Editor in order to make changes to my pages and to add new pages? I want to completely alter my menu and perhaps add the hamburger icon. Does this mean I will have to get the Menu Builder. And to publish my pages do I need to get the Direct FTP. I guess what I really want to know is this - does CoffeeCup have a complete package without a million bells and whistles that would allow me to do basic, simple website building. I have no complex databases or forms but I do have some DVDs and a lot of text in my present old-fashioned site.

HTML Editor is a fantastic editor but to be honest you can use any editor you want to assist with the customization after export. If you are a coder and like to have very tight control of everything then you can use RLMP to build your wireframe and use the editor to build the website. My suggestion is to just use RSD if you do not want to do alot of hand coding.

Again Menu Builder is pretty cool but if you want to make your own menu you can as well. You do not need to purchase MB to use RLMP or RSD.

Same answer as above. It is a very good program but you can use any FTP program you like to upload the site to your server.

I know Coffeecup used to offer bundles on their software, not sure if they still do. What you could do is open a support ticked and ask them.

Hope this helps

You will need an html editor, RLMP creates the responsive layout. You"'ll complete the site in whatever editor you like. CC has a free one. If you get the paid version, you get a lot of nice features to make things easier and more efficient. Projects, libraries and built in FTP are a few of them.
For menus, you can make your own if you don't want to use Menu Builder - but it is nice to have.
CC used to offer some product bundles, but I doubt they'll do that again anytime soon. Some other apps haven't been made responsive yet, and their still getting RSD ready for release. We'll have to wait and see.
Don't forget to try before you buy - all CC software has a free trial so you can see if it's right for you.

Tom,
Some of the answers mention a programme called RSD (CoffeeCup's Responsive Site Designer). That programme is due to be released this summer, so you won't be able to get it quite yet. But if you download a trial version of RLM, you can get used to how it works. RSD will work the same way, and with it, you will also be able to add the actual contents of a site. So my advice is: practise with RLM, then go for RSD when it is launched.

Other than that, if you want to make responsive menus without having to code everything yourself, then take the CC Menu Builder for a spin. Since I am a coder, I'll also throw in a word for the CC HTML Editor since it is such a good programme that doesn't do anything else than what you want it to do.
Ha en riktig god dag!
