Web Form Builder 1.2 question...

I've tried out WFB 1.2 lite (since yesterday) and I'm pleased with the ease of use. I have a question about creating and using multiple forms on my website. I would prefer to use the manual server setup instead of S-drive but as you know, not available on the lite version. I would have one simple "contact" form and a couple more elaborate "questionnaire" forms with maybe 40-60 inputs per form.

Question is: When I export the files for each form, will they use common files that will work for form 1, form 2, form 3 etc, or will each form require its own bundle of independent files. If my question is not clear, the only example I can think to use is this: you know how you can have one stylesheet for 100 different web pages; can you have one folder of files to run several different forms.

Thanks.

You could simply make a folder called "Forms" and inside that folder have folders for "Form 1" Form 2" "Form 3".

Make sure that if you do the above that SirAGE mentions, that you alter the code to reflect the locations. You don't have to do that though as the program gives you the folders with whatever names you give them as well as the php file that it gives you to put into the root directory of the form page. So you can create as many forms for a site as you like as far as I can see. As long as you name them differently they should work. Just make sure that the folder that the program creates and the php file that it includes all go into the directory that the page the form will be on is residing. :)

Troy,

I haven't tried this myself, but if your forms are supposed to look the same (e.g. fonts, margins etc), my guess is that you can use the same style sheet. But I think it's best to do what has been suggested; one folder 'forms' with subfolders for the various forms. It's very easy to overlook something vital if you try to use the same files.

Thanks for the advice. The reason I was asking was more or less to keep things less cluttered on my server, if I can have one folder with a few common files that will work with each form rather than have (one folder) that contains several other folders which all have the same files inside.... I guess its an ocd thing... :P

When you export a form it creates a folder and inside that folder are all the files required for that form. If you export 3 different forms then each will have it's own folder. Actually this is the better way of working because you can remove one form without it affecting the others.

That makes good sense. Thanks. On a side note, I can't tell you how much this program has saved my sanity. I'm an experienced web designer but I hate, hate, HATE creating forms, with a passion. Hopefully now the hair I've pulled out in the past will begin to grow back.

There are more options to the Form Builder than you think.

This version is by far more superior to the flash version.

I too would like to store forms on my own server but am having trouble getting it to work right. Could someone give me an idea what files or folders I should expect to have to upload to my server? I thought I was doing it right but apparently not.

I uploaded a file with a php extention and the document on which I saved my form. Is there something else I am missing?

Hiya Janice,

When you export the form it will create a folder with the word _exported in the name. The files that are inside that folder are the ones you need to upload to the location that you have the page the form is on. Upload the folder that's inside intact as it is as well as the php file. That should get you up and running :)
