Hi,

I am just starting to help with my church's website and I have downloaded the trial of Visual Site Designer. I was wondering if this is the best move. Or should I consider one of the following:

SuperPack
Web Starter
Web Designer

Well, CoffeeCup has lots of great software, that's for sure! I guess it all depends on exactly what you want to do. If all you're going to do is maintain a 'simple' web site, then VSD is all you need.

If however, you think you might want forms, a web store, if you need help with color pattens, or whatever, then the 'kits' can save you a lot of cash in the long run. Good thing about CoffeeCup is that once you purchase a program, it's your's for life. Any and all upgrades are free for life.

So, 1 simple web site, then VSD is a good choice. If you think you might want to get more involved (and it is a lot of fun :D ) then maybe one of the packs. But feel free to download ALL the programs you think you might need and try them out first. After all, it's free!

If you want to create a website (or more websites) using VSD, then you'll have to exclude the 'Web Designer' pack, as VSD is not one of the programmes.

If I were you, I'd play around as much as possible with the progs you are interested in. Use the trial period as much as you can. Then, when you know a bit more about the various progs, is the time to decide on a pack.

But I'd advise you to plan ahead a bit. If you e.g. make a good website for your church, some of your friends may come and ask if you can make one for them too, and before you know it, you have your hands full. A lot of people want an image gallery - well CC has a prog for it. They may want to have a log-in area, and CC can fix that too. Or you find some nice graphics but the colour isn't right, well, turn to CC, they have tools to fix that.
Even if you base your web design on using VSD's drag-and-drop, there may be occasions where you need to tweak and insert some html, and then the HTML Editor comes in handy.

It's up to you, of course, but think what one successful website may lead to ;)

Welcome to the CC forum Natalie.
I would buy the most you can afford after you play around with the trial periods as Inger pointed out. Coffeecups software is addictive so I always recommend buying the most you can so you can save your self a lot in the long run but have all the tools needed to handle anything a website might need.:)
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Well, I have to say that I may need some help. The trial installation worked yesterday and I cannot seem to download it today without an error. I like the software, because someone showed me how it works, but I am afraid that if I purchase it the same will happen. Can someone tell me what may be the problem with the free trial

Shouldn't be anything wrong with it. What's the error you are getting?

I'm downloading it now just to check.

Is it that it isn't downloading? Or that there is a problem installing it?

Natalie, first, tell us which version of Windows you are running, and also if you are using the pc as an admin. And I assume that your internet connection is a fast one? DSL or something?

When you say 'software' are we still talking about VSD? If you have it installed, there shouldn't be any need for another download. There hasn't been any update since yesterday.

The free trials at CC are exactly like the paid versions, apart from the time limit.

Please describe your problem a bit further.

Windows 7 Inger. And yes, DSL. I installed the VSD; worked on the website a little, saved it. The next day I cam back; clicked on the icon and it would not open at all. So I tried reinstalling it and it gave me an error that I mentioned in my other post. I was able to successfully install on my home computer, but I want on my laptop. I will try rebooting to see what happens today. I am not a computer genius but pretty good about most.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
