same link as in other thread, site made with VSD entirely, cart made with SCCP &SCDP to match

Generally the suggestion is to make your site in SCCP & SCDP first, as matching it with VSD afterwards is easier ( i did the reverse ) oh contrair made site, read instructions and forum afterwards.

Not sure about HTML editor, i do not code at all, but i believe you can go from VSD to editor, but not the reverse, (ie) not from editor to VSD

VSD and the HTML Editor are not interchangeable. Since VSD is a WYSIWYG program, it has its own way of creating the code (.vnu files) to make sure everything shows up where you put it. You can open your VSD-created html pages in the Editor, but you can't open those html pages within VSD for editing.

Many of us do use both programs. VSD for speed, flexibility and ease of use and the Editor to create bits of code to customize VSD. The Shopping Cart Creator also allows the insertion of html, so the Editor is good to have.

Follow Viv's advice and get your store planned first. It's much easier to match a VSD site to the Cart than the other way around. You can put a link to your store in your VSD menu and use the Home button in the Cart to link back to your main site. If you've used the same colors, graphics and styles for both it won't look like 2 different sites. Here's an example: http://babyflipple.com/

Have a look through the Shop themes. If there's something there you like, it probably has a VSD and HTML Editor version as well. Plus, you can customize the themes.

After the flippin' ordeal of creating a 4 product store, I figure I might as well show it off
It's what turned me into the evil robot I am today.

By the way, it wasn't that software is difficult, it had more to do with being caught between the former designer and the client with a good mix of over the top requirements thrown in

I didn't use a theme, but the background pattern is a CC graphic (with the color changed). Once I had the cart design down, it was very easy to match the VSD site to it. I put the little cart icon (another CC graphic) on the VSD pages to create another connection between the site and shop.

CC started out saying you could have your shop up and running in under 8 hours if i remember rightly

In reality i had a 10 item shop up and running with 5 VSD homepages in about two days, so it can be quick

However my Delorean site in total has taken weeks of work, adding tweaking but over 6 months or so

I think its a true advantage of DIY you can make it bigger and better at will, but get it live and working for you at first with the minimum of effort.

Just taking the micky out of Paintbriush, didn't really take 1000 hours to write, more like 100 hours followed by 900 hours trying to get her url's to set up  just kidding

Don't make the mistake of publishing unfinished pages they give a bad impression when found by fluke !
