Before I decide to buy a program, I want to make sure that the output from the program (a functional website without forms) will function on the linux server my site will be hosted on. I already have the host rented and everything set up (it is used for more than one domain, so I'd prefer not to have an additional host computer). I need to know, if I purchase the visual site designer, if that output will work properly on the ubuntu host. I attempted this with a windows program (the microsoft web matrix), and it output to a format that the linux host did not know how to host. Will the output be cshtml (which I can't use), or is it able to be effectively used with regular html and css?

It should work with no problem. The output is .htm which is the same as html.

Just load one of the few inbuilt templates, and add your ftp details, and hit publish.

You can find the server requirements for most programs in the Articles (look at the Support menu at the top, the drop down has the articles on it). VSD doesn't list Windows 8 in it yet, I would imagine they will be updating that at some point soon
