RSD HTML Element

Hi.

Site Name: www.imagineprefectskin.com

If you look at the index page at the bottom and all pages there is a newsletter sign up section. Well that code cannot be native to RSD so I need an element to house the code. So what I thought I would do is use an element to keep the code and all the code to sign in and update MailChimp and all that stuff.

Here is the code:

<div class="row heading-mail-row">
<div class="coffee-span-12 heading-mail-row-column">
<h4 class="heading-mail-text"><span class="heading-mail-text-text">“Get Signed Up and Receive Special Promotions"<br></span>
</h4>
</div>
</div>
<div class="row heading-mail-fields-row">
<div class="coffee-span-12 heading-mail-fields-row-col coffee-480-span-12">
<span class="text-element heading-mail-label-text"><span class="heading-mail-label-text-text">Email</span>
</span><input value="" name="email-name" type="email" class="mail-email-field">
</div>
<div class="coffee-span-12 heading-mail-fields-row-col coffee-480-span-12"><button type="submit" class="submit-mail">Submit</button>
</div>
</div>

And the CSS would be handled by the main.css file. The problem is when I placed the code inside the element and then viewed it, and i saw nothing. Then i thought well let me place the HTML element underneath the section and then maybe I would see two of the same thing and nope. Nothing.

When I place this code inside an HTML element within the page and then view in the browser, I get nothing. it is not reading the HTML.

What gives? ;)

I believe the site is http://www.imagineperfectskin.com/

The problem may be far more technical, but I'm not sure that one can expect the code to be handled by RSD's main.css file. My experience is that it is safest to use a custom .css file for classes in an HTML element except in very particular circumstances (Note).

Note
I have on occasion formatted an element in RSD, copied the code of that element, and then entered that code slightly modified into an HTML element. That works OK as long as one finishes doing the above before deleting the original formatted element in RSD. Otherwise it doesn't work, and that suggests to me that just quoting entries from main.css can be hazardous.

Hi Frank,

I have (I think) the same problem as Marty - I have a site built in RSD1.5 in which the html element facility works fine, however, when trying to rebuild the site in RSD2.0 beta the html element displays nothing, even though the code is identical, ie. copied from what works in RSD1.5.

I read you comment to Marty suggesting custom css files, being new to this I don't know how, but in any case CC have the html element but it doesn't work if any scripts or other coding techniques are present in the code.

Would very much appreciate how to work around this problem

When I got to http://www.imagineperfectskin.com/ the site has not been published yet. Would you mind publishing your site so I can see the code?

Brian:
Marty Glenn's site is, I believe, now at http://www.skincarescience.com/

Peter:
I am surprised if valid coding seems not to work in an RSD2 HTML elements. I guess that others cleverer than me may be able to help if a specific example is provided along with a link to the RSD2 project file.

My reference to custom css files was not to some abstruse technique. It was simply the kind of thing referred to at

It shows in RSD 1.5 and 2.0 for me using just the html.
It's probably a css issue.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

I tried the code you posted in an RSD html element and it shows up just fine for me.

I guess Marty resolved his problem. If Peter Jubb still has a problem with HTML elements in RSD2 I assume he will provide a specific example with a link to his RSD2 project file as suggested.

Hi Frank,
Now have it working - I was just being incredibly dumb, with a real rooky mistake - forgetting to put the other half of the code in the header section and then jumping to the conclusion that the "new software" must be at fault !!!
Sorry all

You are not the first one forgetting that, and you won't be the last one either. ;)
When thinking back a bit, I also forgot obvious things...
