when I uploaded the project it is created into a folder named as the project´s name (ricardomendesjr) under the root folder. However I want to create it into the root folder (without this sub-folder). How can I supress the project's name when uploading?

Be sure you have something like:

/public_html/

in the remote directory setting of the FTP setting for your project. From there it should not upload or create any kind of directory at all unless you're telling it to. If you put your project name in that remote directory setting, then that's the folder it's going to create so don't do that.
