Problem adding headers & footers on...
Building a new website Using VSD as i thought it was more versitle then shop cart designer. I Built a landing page 1 that will have only one link to enter my website. Page 2 would be my home page with links to my other pages & products. I cannot figure out how to add headers & footers on page 2 that i can fill in background colors, text etc seperately. I tried using grids & then objects & picked a rectangle for my header. I get My chosen color on sides & border only. There is no way i can find to fill in my background color in center white area. Also, I noted, there is no way to fill in background color only to header & footer, leaving center of page with a white background. Am I using the wrong program to build my website? Please Advise.
Terry, there are a few different ways to go about this.
Under Page Properties, you can choose a color, gradient or image to use as your page background.
So, for example, you could fll the page with one color then create 2 shapes (rectangles) and fill those with another color and position them at the top/bottom of your page. I don't think this is ideal, since the shapes can't be locked in place and they're seen as images (adds more page weight) rather than backgrounds.
The other way to do this is to create your background in an image editing program and add it to your page as above (choose the image option and browse to it). Now the background is locked in place and can't be accidentally shifted/deleted. Keep in mind, backgrounds typically repeat to fill the available space, so a good way to save bandwith is by creating a small image that can repeat across and/or down to fill your page.
