Positioning our form in a specific...

Hello all,

First time on the forum as a Newbie to Web Site Builder Lite (Windows).

Designed, uploaded to S Drive and exported form. No problem!

I use a web tool that allows me to edit the HTML source.

Following Export I have completed Step 1 in other words a copy to the HEAD area. I also know how to do Step 3 again a copy to where our webpage is housed.

I can do Step 2 but when I do this it just places the web-form in the top left hand corner of the screen. I need it much more central in a specific place.

I am not very experienced with HTML so don't really know how to progress this. I am capable of following simple instructions though so any advice would be really helpful. My guess is that I need to adapt the info to be copied with some location parameters or place a line with this data before I copy. Anywhere near??

Thanks in anticipation.

Hiya Matthew,

Do you have a link to the page with the form on it? That's the best way for us to help you here so we can see the code and where exactly you have the code placed.

For the most part you need to have a container setup somewhere on the page that you want the elements in (such as a form) and you place the code in there. If you have a spot already setup in your page then just paste the code to that spot. This would usually be within a <div></div> set or similar setup, but the <div> container setup needs to be placed correctly in the page to put it where you want it. In other words, you can't just put the code on the page and then tell it where to go unless you have code setup to do so, and you must tell it where you want it to go or put it in the place you want it to be, manually.

Hope that makes sense, but giving us a link to the page in question would help us tell you better how to place it. :)

Just curious...but what is 'Web Site Builder Lite'? Or are you talking about the 'Web Form Builder Lite' ? What 'web tool' do you edit the HTML with? If you haven't tried it, CoffeeCup's FREE HTML Builder is outstanding... http://www.coffeecup.com/free-editor/

Hi Jo Ann

We have a form setup on http://www.contentcaptureservices.co.uk … ng_UK.html but I intend to replace this with a webform from coffee cup. Is this what you meant or do you need a link to the new webform on the coffeecup site??

Thanks so much,
Matthew.

We would need a link to the page the code is on that you are saying is in the wrong place. If the one you're working on is the S-Drive one, then that's the one we would need. The other wouldn't do us much good if it's not the same page on the other site. If it "is" the same page, then that should actually give you an idea where the code goes as the form code for the other page would be where you would put the code for the CC form (replacing it that is). If it's not the same page though then you'll need to alter some things I'm sure.

Either way, please provide us a link to the page in question. :)

Hi Jo Ann,

If you look at the page source text of http://www.contentcaptureservices.co.uk … ng_UK.html are you saying delete everything between <div> on line 89 and </div> on line 130 (this seems to me to be the existing form) and replace the CC code from step 2 in between the <divs>. It does not have to be in the exact spot just in the region of the current form.

Look forward to your thoughts that clearly of far in advance of my own!

BACKUP YOUR PAGE/SITE before trying this so you can put it back if it doesn't work.
From what I can tell it looks like you would totally delete the code in the divs containing the information about the ESWuserForm, don't replace it with anything, delete those divs completely.

Then there is the actual place the code for the form is which is down around line 239 to 268 which contains all the lines of code for the actual form. That is the code you need to replace with the code that the Form Builder has generated for you.

Be sure to upload all the files that it gave you and put them into the root directory of your site (the same directory that the page the form is on will be). Also be sure you don't upload the folder that is named with _export on the end of the name, you need to upload the files that are inside that folder and upload them intact as they are folders and all.

Let us know how that works out.

In the meantime I will tell you also that your site is extremely outdated and could benefit from doing something with the new Responsive Layout Maker program that CoffeeCup has recently released. Your site is using code that has been deprecated for quite some time already. Just a heads up. Good Luck! :)

Hey Jo,

Thank you so much for this. I will give it a try when I have some time this evening. My little four year old started school yesterday so that has taken much of my brain power! To have this coherent and prompt assistance has been a great help.

Cheers,
Matthew.
