I had previously been part of a group of (4) people who used Free FTP to load photos to one common web site.

Whjen my computer crashed I bought a new one with the ever-sitty WINDOWS 8....now I can't get back in. ONe other useer in our groiup switched to MAC and he finds that the program is also non-operabele...but that's not my problem.

I seem to be able to get running (I said "seem" to be able) but the files do not show up on the web site.

There are several issues that confuse me:

|first....what is nickname? I s this really necessary. In my efforts to get urnning, I have changed nicknames (as a trial) and nothing much seems to happen.

When the program sdoes seem to get up-and-running, it still doesn't transfer the files.

I do note, howefver, that the transfer process seems to be near-instantaneous. Previously it was slow. Is this a sign that it is simply not working?

I'm running Win8 and the Direct FTP, which is similar to the free FTP, only has few more features. I have not had any problems with connecting and uploading to my 20 odd sites. Make sure that your server details are correctly entered, and experiment with the active/passive mode.

A nickname is just a name that you can use for a connection. Like if you have several domains on the same server, I use the domain name as the nickname.

Hello!
Is it possible to create a slideshow like this http://www.thebellawedding.com or this http://www.oakwoodstudio.com using the software available from Coffee cup? I would like to create them and upload them using dreamweaver. Thank you! Ken
