I was just wondering if there was a program that would help me build a forum that includes user account creation, groups, and access rights. Right now, I'm looking at the daunting task of learning PHP and I really just want something easier.

Why not just try out smf forums? It's free and no need to learn php to use them. They are one of the best forum softwares out there.

If you have a hosting account with CPANEL you will find free Forums included with your hosting.

If not go and have a look at someone like justhost.com or better still bluehost.com who will with a bit of hunting, provide you a free trial of cpanel with access to all its free programs including forums etc.

No doubt CC will have something in the foreseeable future but NOT soon

You should be able to find SMF forums on the Cpanel setup too. Our cPanel just changed from Fantastico to Scriptaculous for all it's extra software and now we have a ton more options. Pretty cool, but SMF is still the best :)

Off topic but Jo looking at your Avatar, it is surprising how close our Dingoes look like the American Wolf. Apparently a tourist got mauled by one up North the other week. I think you really are a Sheep in Wolfs clothing or is your bite truly worse than your bark :o
