If you break your text box into paragraphs so their not overlapping your script it will work.
This support article states the proper setup for working with text in VSD. I know it takes longer but we've already spent a lot of time on this issue and I'm sure adjusting the text will fix the issue.

Eric, you are correct, although I'm baffled as to why it behaves this way. When you mentioned using separate text boxes before I assumed you were talking about around the table further down the page, as that is where it was visibly not working. But now that I've separated the text around the html box it is working properly.
