Hi all,
I'm new to the forums but I am familiar with Coffee Cup Visual Site Designer 6 from 5 years ago. I've been in IT for just over 11 years now but rarely do any websitey stuff. My work is mostly troubleshooting/implementing large scale IT systems. VSD is a really great product and it's been on my to-do list to get in to it since VSD6. Which brings me to now;
My wife is a professional cake/cookie maker and teaches classes so others can make eye-pleasing treats. She is looking to buy the shop-front business where she does the classes. The business is also a cake making accessory shop. So you can buy rolling pins, cake tins, etc. The business already has a website with an online shop but it's terrible. If we buy this business (which is very likely to happen), I'm going to recreate the website from scratch. So I have a few questions if someone could help me please.
I know my way around VSD mostly but to have an online shop I see CoffeeCup has Shopping Cart Designer Pro and Shopping Cart Creator Pro which I had a play with last night after downloading the trial / free designer. Really user-friendly!
1. Is there a software bundle/package that has VSD, Shop Creator Pro, and other things that would come in handy like Web Form Builder that I could buy?
2. Did Responsive Site Designer replace Visual Site Designer?
3. I see Shopping Cart Creator Pro can keep track of inventory. Can that data be exported easily? And does anyone have any suggestions for order tracking / inventory software that the exported data could then be imported to? Or can Shopping Cart Creator Pro do all that anyway?
Thanks in advance!
Steve
Creating website / online shop for my...
I don't want to disappoint you, but are you aware that VSD is now discontinued, and that all support will stop by the end of this year?
One of the reasons for this is that these days you never know what kind of device people will view a site with, so the pages have to be made responsive, that means that they will have to adapt to any screen size. VSD-built pages cannot adapt to small screens.
CoffeeCup has created a new programme, Responsive Web Designer (RSD) to replace VSD. It has a learning curve and is a tad more involved that the old VSD, but the result can be amazing.
As for the CC shopping cart software, it has not yet been made responsive. We are hoping that it won't be long before they launch a responsive version of it.
I hope this will not ruin your day. We are here to see you through all issues with the new programme should you need it.
