I have a question for anyone who might have knowledge on my issue or can give me tips.

I have a business where I sell notes for university students. We are currently working on a cloud based system where students buy our notes and then we share it with them on Google Drive. We then turn off the permission for them to download and print the notes and only view it. (This is one setting on Google Drive)

The reason why we do this is because we used to send the notes via a pdf but people just forwarded that to other students. My question is, if it's possible to create an online e-commerce store where students buy the notes and have the ability to view it on the website via a login, but we restrict them from downloading a pdf, and allow printing only. We want people to print their notes on their own.

Now, we are well aware of the fact that people can take screenshots of the notes and also scan the printed notes and form a pdf off of that. That's not the point and we know there will always be a loophole. All we know is that making the steps more difficult for customers to send the notes will scare most people off.

So all I'm asking is: 1. Is it possible for something to print without the computer downloading it? (Or at least in a way so that the customer doesn't notice it) 2. And is it possible to create a e-commerce site that includes the above feature?

Once that pdf has been viewed it's in the browsers cache and you can get to it. I guess keeping the price low enough to make the effort not worth the trouble would be the easiest route. How about placing the original purchasers name within the notes as a share scare tactic. Kinda like a water mark.
