I have followed the instructions from the site adding the CSS code to center the web page and have run the CSS checker with no error but the page still does not center regardless of which browser I use. Am I missing something here?

Can you share a link. It could be a number of reasons. Letting us see it would make for a faster resolution.

Here is the link to the page. I have added the code as explained in the css article and in the example but the page does not center on any browser.

Also, I am usining a paid for version of the software that my wife purchased under her name and account. My account still shows trial version as she was the one that purchased the software.

In VSD click on "Page" at the top. Next in the properties box that opens to the right check the "Center design" box. I would also grab the latest version of VSD.
