Hi,

When I'm trying to customize the highlighting colors in free html editor 15 I get an error message that ends like this: .....CoffeeCup Free HTML Editor\Parsers2\html.tsm.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

Ed

I guess everyone's so taken with RSD they've forgotten about the poor ol' Editor.
I don't have the free version since I use the latest paid-for version, but I know it doesn't have as many features.
Can you go to Preferences > Customization > Modify Highlighting? If that's in the free version and it's giving you errors, I'd try re-downloading/installing the Editor (make sure anti-virus is off and no other programs are running at the time).

Helloooooo anybody else using the free Editor???

Thanks a lot, paintbrush.

Yes, the "Modify Highlighting" produces that error.
I have been using Homesite 5 for over 10 years and just recently purchased TopStyle 5. Two days ago I learned that it will be discontinued so I have to look for another HTML editor. Before I "waste" another 69 bucks I want to test the free editor, which is announced as being fully functional for 21 days.
I did reinstall it but it does not make any difference. My OS is Win 7 (64 bit).

Try running the program as admin:

1. Right-click the shortcut icon, and click Properties.
2. Click the Compatibility tab.
3. Here, put a check mark by Run This Program as an Administrator.
4. Next, put a check mark next to Run This Program in Compatibility Mode For: and ensure Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2 is selected.
5. Click OK.

In the end your settings should match this:

I think you are confusing two variations of the html Editor. The paid-for, full Editor can be downloaded and used for free for 21 days. It has all the bells and whistles that the paid product has. This is, however, not the 'Free Editor'. The Free Editor is a stripped-down version of the full Editor and has no time limit. Since I have the paid version, I don't know exactly which features you won't find in the Free one.
