That is correct Viv, if you're talking about settings that is. With HTML Editor it doesn't save a specific file like VSD saves the .vnu file so your files are always intact as it never really does anything other than edit or save them for you. Settings should be retained though when going from the trial to the paid version. :)

Open the Editor, go to Tools - Preferences. When you find the General tab (usually opens as default), the first option top lef is a choice between No open dcument, New document and Open last document. If you go for 'New document' and if you have already edited the default html file not to show any code, you should be able to get a blank page on opening the Editor. After changing what to open you need to close the Editor and then reopen it for the change to take effect.

Mind you, the HTML Editor is, as the name says, an editor for html. If you just need to take notes and save them as plain text. Notepad springs to mind, or if you have MSOffice 07 or newer, you should have a little clever prog. called OneNote.
