Post holiday greeting to all!
In case you been in a biosphere the last couple of years here's a few things to thing about. The cost of web design programs run from about $50 to $300 and can you usually receive updates/bug fixes for a year or two until the next version or release comes out. And you will have to purchase the upgrade to have the new features. (Yes, there are some programs that have not charged any or only a small fee and these are very outdated. No or limited HTML5 & CSS being at the top of a long list of what's not there and other problems. Like insert code 14x.) Others are charging for downloads after 30 days, or you can purchase a 6 month extension purchased up front. Also you can purchase a backup disc that's "highly recommended" of course.

Can't it just be freeware and open source? Made a donation lately?

You want "Professional Grade GMC" type software? If you're a CAD Designer like myself you could choose 1 of 2 popular programs (SolidWorks or ProE) for 5K and a 25% upfront fee to receive service packs(bug fixes) for one year, be able to post to the official forum/blog and receive support. And the 25% fee is ongoing every year! And just think, some of the add-in programs only cost 10k and 25% every year on. Sorry no K-Mart blue light specials here.

Also keep this in mind, this new release will have some problems. There's just is not enough resources and time. The user base will have to help, report bugs, be patient and give the programmers a chance to fix things. The web design programs that have switched to HTML5 and CSS have all had problems. Coffee Cup may also. I'm sure Scott will keep you posted about fixes as best possible, being the upfront person he is.

If this new program(s) does as stated, then I would have no problem with a purchase(not rent) cost of $200-$300 and a healthy fee for upgrade on the following releases. Wait a minute, the Coffee Cup team people are all wealthy and or big lottery winners, a billionaire pays all the overhead and they work just because they love their jobs. Its obvious the last part of that statement is pretty much true, the wealthy part I'm not sure about. Scott???
Be safe and stay warm!
Donald
