If you're using the HTML Editor to upload your site, or an FTP program, you'd use pretty much the same information inside VSD's internal uploading system to connect. Not much difference there.

I could upload it from Hostgator then, once I figured how to set up the stuff without Wordpress, I think.

I still haven't figured out how to create a test directory with them.

Sounds like a lot of work that I don't have time for right now...

The only thing it would buy me is getting rid of tables. I already have the working site in Wordpress.

Of course it would be a fun challenge to do it all in VSD.

Well see the thing about using FTP to upload (or uploading it in VSD itself) is that you don't have to create all the directories you need for VSD as it will do it for you, and the HTML editor will upload right from within the program also, and uploads whatever you tell it to be it a single file or entire folders.

If you want to just create a folder for something to use later or for others to upload to or whatever, just fire of DirectFTP and connect to your server and create a folder. You don't have to do it all through your host itself, there's lots of ways to get things done for uploading.

Makes no sense. I just tried it and it worked, and that address doesn't even forward to me through my ISP to the @coloradoprocessservers.net one, but a different one. I just verified it at my ISP's setup page that I control.
