Does Visual Site Designer have tools built in to prevent hacking? I use VSD and do not know how to write codes for websites. One site is getting hacked repeatedly. Can anyone give me info on how to prevent this?

If your site is getting hacked, that has nothing to do with a web editor. You should contact your hosting company and start changing all your passwords. They should also be able to help you determine where your site is getting hacked from.

Thanks, I have contact them and they are supposedly working on it. I just was wondering if there was anything I could do with the VSD script to help prevent hacking.

Someone I know had his site hacked recently, and it turned out that he was causing it himself because his machine had got some virus or trojan...

I did a full system scan with Norton Antivirus/Internet Security and found nothing. I manage several websites and it is only one that is being hacked. If it were from my computer, wouldn't they hack them all?

If you buy a pint of spoiled milk, are all the cartons in the cooler spoiled?

If it were me, I would secure my PC. I would also change and secure all of my passwords. I would delete everything from the hacked server and upload with a known clean copy.

Check your scripts for vulnerabilities. Who is your host?

Never leave server log in info lying around your PC in documents and email that are not secure. It is safer to write them down on paper.

I have been having similar issues with Justhost.com and I have found a few other people having similar issues.
I have even had addon domains deleted from my server, with live websites on them, and redirects removed
I am taking my account back to Bluehost.com, who i never had problems with , Twice the price, Twice the service!

Certain hosts are at fault for not properly securing their servers. They will blame your scripts all day long but it's funny those scripts don't get hacked on other hosts. :)

A lot of the time sites get hacked due to user name and password breach.

I've experienced having sites hacked via "code injection," but that involved poorly-written (and thus vulnerable) Javascript.

Hi all,

I really dont want to blow Coffeecups trumpet here - but I will :)

I have used a lot of FTP software over the years but Coffeecups Direct FTP allows you to view permissions for folders and files and your website. You need to have a set of permissions that will help prevent hackers finding vulnerable folders.

If you permissions are incorrectly set then this gobaloons can get in quite easliy and do their thing. Although the ISP should be keeping an eye on folder permissions.

Also, if passwords are too easy to guess then they can work be guessed. Maybe the hacker is someone known and guessed or knows the password. All the other suggestions and courses of action previously mentioned are great to take on board.

One can never be too careful, no matter how time consuming and counter productive it may seem - until your hacked!
