ok, I tried to go with web.com and have them build my store for me. NEVER EVER ask them to do anything for anyone. it took them almost a month to get the thing done, and then they still didn't have it completed.

i spent many hours on the phone with them, and they still kept getting it wrong. when i pointed this out to them, it seemed like they just took longer getting it fixed, than the first time i pointed it out.

i am once again attempting to make my store. hopefully this time, i can get the CC store maker to work properly on my XP, and get the store made right.

will let you all know how things are going, if and when i get it up and running.

Thanks

I found a site willing to help me with my store. You can now see our store at http://squeakeyeaglephotos.net, known as J & K Photos.

I do have a very big problem with the site though. I need to edit the PHP on it, but don't know how to work with PHP. I can't seem to get anyone to help me learn the PHP coding that they use.

I have a friend that does nothing but PHP and even he said that he don't understand the PHP that the site uses.

I am sure you can pull up the coding by "view source" on the page, so if there is anyone that can help me learn how to work with this PHP so that I can do editing on the pages, it would be very much appreciated.

I am sure that if I could have my Dream Weaver CS 3 working on this computer (I don't have a CD Rom Drive on it), that my DW CS 3 would be able to teach me how to do the PHP, but without it, I'm totally lost.

Does the CC HTML editor work with the PHP? If so, that would help too, for me to be able to learn how to do PHP.

Please let me know.

I posted a forum post on the site's main forum section, but only ONE person out of 20 lookers, has even tried to answer me.

All help is appreciated.

Thanks Again

Hiya Kimberly,

Are you using the CoffeeCup Shopping Cart Creator and need help with that? If you're not then you won't find help to learn PHP here, nor help to edit some other software's code, you'd need to go to that software for help.

If you're talking about CC's SCC then I also can tell you you should not edit the code at all. Editing the code can and most likely will break your shop as it's all to be done within the software.

If you want to edit PHP outside of the SCC then by all means do so, but be warned that there is no support here for edited files coming from the software here so if you do break it you'll be on your own.

The HTML Editor is fully equipped to handle editing of PHP, but it's not going to teach you how to do it. That's something you're going to need to do taking classes, online tutorials, reading books or whatever other resources you may have for it. Programs don't teach you that, including Dreamweaver. They make it easier to do it, but they don't teach it (I sure wish they did too lol).

Anyways, let us know exactly what it is you're trying to do and if it is the SCC software you are using or someone elses, etc. Most likely if it's the SCC program you're working with, someone here will be able to help you do the changes you're after within the program itself, or if it's in the design then within the Shopping Cart Designer program(s).

More than likely the reason for only one person responding to your post is that of all of the regular posters I am aware of, only a couple of them have demonstrated a working knowledge of PHP. CC's HTML editor does allow you to work with PHP, they even have a code index for it. Try that and see if it helps.

Looking at your site Kimberly, that is not made with CC's Shopping Cart Creator at all, you'll need to get help with that system through the people you are using the software or system with. Either way, the HTML Editor will allow you to edit the PHP, but it's not going to teach it to you :P

This is what I found yesterday, when I went to submit a Support Ticket for the site:

PLEASE HELP US
Over the last year support requests have doubled and we can no longer keep up. Ktools.net consists of just 2 people and with thousands of support tickets submitted monthly it now takes up all of our time.

Before making some very drastic changes to the way we handle support we would like to ask our members to start using the forum, FAQs and manual more and submit less support tickets. Also please understand that we are selling products and not a web design or custom work service. It seems many have been mistakenly treating us as their web developers or IT people. If you would like to customize our product then you must do it yourself or find help elsewhere. Our products are sold as is and we do not have time to offer custom work services.

2744 tickets have been submitted since this was posted on April 6, 2010.
SUPPORT GUIDLINES:
When contacting our customer support department please try and follow these rules.

No Custom Work Requests
In order to provide top notch customer support and invest time in what we do best, developing software, we do not accept custom programming or design requests. All custom work requests will be redirected to our Custom Work area. To view what is included in our support package see our Support, Installation, Upgrades page. What is considered custom work?

No Server Configuration Requests
Your server and/or hosting configuration is up to you and your host or server administrator. We DO NOT offer support for server related issues. We only support our scripts.

After reading this, I decided to make a post to their forums. Normally when I submit a Support Ticket, I at least get some sort of answer within about 10 minutes. Posting to the forums, I didn't get my first comment on the post for almost 8 hours, and that wasn't very helpful.

On the browser that I use, I was able to get this information about my site, just from the main page. I don't know if it will help with anything, but I thought it might be worth a try.

I don't know what all this means, but maybe someone can help me understand it.

I didn't use the CC SCC. The site came with the cart already in the template. If I knew how to make my own template for the site, I would definitely change it, but I don't know how. I mainly know the basics of the HTML & CSS. I took Web Site Design courses, but none of them covered PHP.

I have 2 diplomas in WSD, and can't do JavaScript or PHP. So, in my eyes, I learned nothing, got diplomas for nothing, and wasted over $3,000 for nothing.

Hope someone can help.

Kim

Couple thoughts: first, your post makes me thankful for coffeecup forums and overall support. second, all the information you submitted appears just to be header information. It is largely unuseful. Third, this is a "more for your information" type deal. Most software, this includes coffeecup as well as the company you are using, use their own proprietary scripts for their software. This means that its possible even if any of us saw the php that we would not be able to understand it. It also means that if you begin making changes to the code without doing your changes through the software itself, it can cause your website to act buggy or not to work at all. So, most people will suggest that you do not alter the code that the software creates.
