Server Side Data Base Without MySQL...

My current web hosting package (1&1 Beginner) doesnt support mySQL and PHP. Is it possible to store and retrieve server side data without these. I have heard mention of 'Flat Scripting', could this be the answer.
Thanks in advance for any help or tips.

I don't know anything about 'flat scripting', but here is some info:

But are you sure that your host does not have php and mysql support? I checked out 1and1 beginner, and when I clicked on the various '+' symbols, I found support for php4 and php5 and 10 mysql databases.

Thankyou for your reply Inger. I checked out the roblox link but the information was for game designing. Also had a look at the 1&1 link which goes to a US site. I bought my package from a UK site and the features arent quite as generous. I might even sign up with another hosting provider. Ive been tempted to give JustHost a try. Do you know anything about them?

Thanks for your trouble

No, sorry, I don't know them.

In this discussion web hosts are recommended or - well - warned against:

Michael,

I just switched from HostMonster (BAD experiences) to JustHost. So far, JustHost has been great. The only problem I have is that Hostmonster allowed me to reorder CPanel so the sections I used most frequently were at the top. JustHost allowed me to rearrange, but when I logged back in, the sections were in the original order. But that is minor.

Thanks Lowell, I will go back and have another look at the JustHost site and see which package is most suitable. The prices certainly looked very reasonable. Not having mysql and php is quite a bit of hinderance and narrows ones scope quite a bit.
By the way, I love the anim avatar

I'm a welder by day (Unfortunately!!). Been experimenting with a bit of wml programming lately. A bit confusing because you never know when to use wbmp's or standard jpegs, gifs etc. Ive got a small mobile site up at the moment. It's a mobile ringtones site, and all the downloads are mp3 format. You can have a look on a mobile browser at www.newphonetones.co.uk. Please note that it wont display in IE as its wml coding.
Best Wishes

Michael
