Hello:
Is there a way to have your website set up so that the home page can be one of 3 or 4 pages. The page that the user would see would be randomly generated. The idea being that when users hit your page they have a pretty good chance of being presented with a different page. Just something to make them look a little harder/closer. The text and links on the pages would be pretty much the same - just a different aesthetic experience.

I guess the next question is, is this something that you guys think is worth doing and has any merit. Is this going to screw up the SEO. Thanks for your thoughts and input.

If you want to change the images randomly, google for a random image loader. If you keep the same alt tags, it should not mess up the seo.

If you want to have it alternate between different css files, it can be done in php. If you are not savvy in php yourself, you may have to find someone who can code it for you. The owner of http://www.3rings.co.nz/ is a good coder, if you don't know any locally.
Ha en riktig god dag!

Me personally would not like to goto a site that I visit regularly and have the home page change every time I goto it. I guess it would depend on the content. If your just changing colors or images and the actual layout of links and menus doesn't change then it would probably be ok.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

I have to say one of the things I really liked about CMS sites like Joomla, was that they had these great features and effects you could apply to your sites to change colors and background styles and things like that randomly every time you loaded your site. I'm sure there are some scripts out there somewhere that you can do that with a normal HTML site as I'm sure what Inger said is probably how it would need to be done, changing out the CSS file etc. Was a pretty cool feature of a handful of Joomla's themes though, part of what I miss on the CMS's, guess I'll have to look into this and see if it's out there for HTML too :)

The SMF has the ability for users to be allowed to select their own theme if you want to allow them to do it and the theme has already been uploaded to your forum theme directory.

Yes but that's not a randomizer that alters anything at each login, it's just giving the users the ability to set their own look. Here's a site I used to purchase themes from using their club subscription a few years ago when I was doing Joomla sites. Has even got some animated color changing or pulsing type backgrounds, pretty slick. This is the demo page and if you check out the 2 themes below you'll see what I mean:

http://www.yootheme.com/demo/joomla

Don't forget to check some of the variations of each theme. Many come in different colors, designs, etc. for the same theme which you can switch around at the top on the demo pane.

Spark is the first one you see, that one has animated coloring
Motion has an animated header image as well as rotating image banner under it

The one with the most changing would be called Daylight (on page 2 of the list) which changes the theme look several times a day according to the time of day it is and adjusts the lighting of the images accordingly. Very slick.

Pulse is one of the first ones they did that altered things on an animated system which changes the colors brighter and darker, alternates the colors, etc.

Anyways that's what I think he's after, but I don't have any idea where you'd find scripts for it for HTML as these are all CMS (content management systems) that are like Wordpress types (only way better lol) so they are built with a lot of PHP in them.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. It sounds like too much bother for the amount of return.
