Notifying readers of updates to my...

OK. I got the RSS file composed and validated. I signed up for Twitterfeed and linked it to my Facebook account. I look forward to seeing it in action once the settings kick in.

Questions!

1. The URL I put in the RSS file is the web address for my home page. I hope the feed will pick up changes on any page throughout the whole site. Was I supposed to individually list every single page's web address in the RSS file in order for that to happen?

2. I'm reading more and more about RSS feeds online, and now I'm not sure I did this right. Do I have to manually go into my RSS file and enter every update I make to my website? Or does a feed automatically notice everything that's new? Some things, such as design features, I wouldn't necessarily want to show up in a feed. It's the content, of course, that needs to show up.

Sorry for sounding so ignorant, but this is all new to me.

Because you are posting with VSD and not a blogging software, you will more than likely have to update the RSS feed manually. But it beats having to it 3 or 4 times on different sites. :P

You could start an SDrive Stream. Very easy to set up and you can opt to have your posts go to your FB/Twitter accounts as well as email subscribers. You could include links in the post to the new items (and photos if you wanted).

That would be the idea situation. S-Drive streams can be setup to automatically post to Facebook and Twitter. :D And then you could use Powerpost to post to your stream!

Paintbrush and SirAGE, thank you so much for the ideas! With the way I'm doing my rss file right now, I do have to go in and enter updates manually. But it's actually quite quick and easy.

I don't think anything could be easier than using Power Post with an SDrive Stream – Especially with VSD :D
