Newbie seeking advice on redoing...
I have taken over the running of our association’s web page www.afca.org.au which was built by a consultant before my time.
We are charged $50-$100 a pop to change anything on the site such as latest news which being a non-profit we cant afford to do very much. I have created several basic pages using CC Visual Site Designer and have the bought most of the other programs.
So I can create the basic static page no probs but with this site we want to have a front page with a blog section for any member to upload info and a membership application/renewal form. We also , being film critic types, currently have about 100mb of archived reviews and stuff which I would like to make accessible using some type of search engine.
I have been looking at WordPress.org forums and ‘buy our template’ sites which look interesting and easy to do but when you start looking into it you find that you need to know how to code and if not run the risk of stuffing everything up.
I am self-taught but being a volunteer don’t have oodles of time to do this which is way I am back here at CC.
Question 1. I read about the CC Power post and S drive, live chat and such but would these apps be appropriate when you have numerous members wanting to post their latest news?
Question 2. Having built a site, is there some nice kind soul at CC/forums who would look over the site before it was launched?

I can answer question 2 :: lots of us will have a look for you, and try to give you pointers along the way as required.
Question 1 :: how many "numerous members wanting to post their latest news?" Streams mat be useful but either a free account 3 contributors, or webbie account which costs i think $5.00 per month and will give you 10 contributors.
Contributors do not need access to the pc with vsd on, they can post by email from a mobile device, and send pictures see http://deloreanjewellery.co.uk/engravingblogg.html as example

With most hosts you have a C panel which give access to the Fantastico programs. That allows you to have blogs, Classifieds plus a host of other things you can link to.
I think it took all of 5 mins for me to have a blog. I just ran with the standard one, but I believe they can be changed. Now if you give access to those members who wish to upload news they can.
Mine as I say is a simple setup but apparently over 500 people a day read my ramblings and view my site. Follow me at http://inkmon.org/myblog. I have not tried the Guest book but as you have form builder then there is a way to use a stream to create one in S_Drive.
I will definatly take advantage of S_Drive 1 site 1 form and best of all no adds. VSD seamlessly uploads to it. Marvelous. I am no expert but if you pose a problem I may be able to help a fellow Aussie.
Actually I am a 10 Quid tourist but have been here longer than most due to an age advantage.
