Importing my existing website into...

Hiya Marilyn,

I think you might be confused on how things work where VSD is concerned. There is no "importing" to VSD at all, only exporting. To use the other pages that you have already created in DW you can just create your menu and use those pages as the links instead of creating new pages in VSD. If you need the site to look the same on all the pages, you will definitely need to do them all in VSD then so they are the same unless you're up to some coding which by the other threads I've been reading you are not interested in doing. Unfortunately there's no easy way around the VSD system, so the only thing you really can do is incorporate the other pages into the menu in VSD, or create links to them in VSD or redo them in VSD. Can't import them in any way or convert.

I kind of gathered that (no importing) from previous posts. My site doesn't look the same on all pages - that would be boring :) (well, except of a couple of logo type links). So it looks like I can use either method. I"ll try creating the link in VSD first. I'm just afraid of screwing up the site. :/

Make a backup of your entire site folder or the section of site files/folders that you will be working on and put it in a safe location elsewhere on your computer, that way if you mess it up you can always copy it back again and try again hehe. And that way you will feel free to try new things and mess around with stuff you would normally be afraid of screwing up :)

Marilyn, If you have pages that you want part of or all of the code from experiment with the right click show source. Copy the pages code and paste this into an html box in VSD. I've done this with great success. I usually copy just the code between the body tags. I did this for some rules that sat under the main menu links for one site. I redid the link menu with pics in VSD and pasted the rules html code into a html box in VSD under this new no flash menu. This got the page into VSD until I had time to retype the rules.

For what it's worth...
To move an existing site into VSD, you can drag and drop images and graphics from the live site, also copy the text and paste into a VSD text box. Not very practical for hundreds of pages, but I lost my original site files some years ago and since my site only had around a dozen pages it worked out well. Just opened the site with VSD open next to it on the same screen and dragged stuff over.

What do you need Jay? I can be, but I'm probably not as helpful as some of the others would be to do a call to.
