Just my thoughts here..
I would rethink the blog meta description:
Maybe a more direct invitation to the blog. This will show in the google listing. Invite and educate the people when they 'scan' the text.

We're bloggin' and you'll see whatever is going on at Accessories of the World right here! Sales, Events, and anything else we can concoct will first show up here before anywhere else!

just playing with it ---
Visit Accessories of the World blog often to keep informed of sales, events and new products.

Here is another little trick. Create a facebook page for accessories of the world. Then create a link to your site and have people you know access your site through facebook. This allows you to utilize facebook's searchability within google. I mean there are a million tricks to help increase your "odds" at ranking well. But you need visitors and you need to understand how searching works so you can create better keywords and tags within your document.

Thanks guys for sure,
@Eric, I do have a business facebook site, I'll get with you on what you mean by have everyone connect through it. I did send you a message on your site with phone number and brief (well tried to be brief LOL) description of time frames when I'm home. Thanks so very much for your offer of help, it's most appreciated.

@dave, thanks very much for the suggstions, I'll take a good look at them shortly and make some changes on that too. Also, no worries, I don't take anything as being picked on at all, I appreciate all your efforts to help. You want me to toot my own horn for a review you say? LOL I'll email you with some suggestions, thanks very much for that info too :)

Also one of the main reasons that I have Accessories of the World listed last in the title stuff is because every time I run it through an SEO software or site it says that it's not good because it has stop words in it (of the) and rates it bad. Same with the meta tags and such too.

ask Eric about that and see what he says, I see it differently, title first, page and/or description second.

Must be the first ever despondent-sounding post from you, Jo Ann. That's just not like you at all!!

A couple of thoughts:

1. Dave's recent posts make a lot of sense to me. The way I read them is that SEO is not necessarily a separate, mystical science, but more a question of common sense based on a few key rules. The words in the title and key word lists are critical and they need to be "real" in the sense that they must appear in the text on the associated page(s). (Etc., etc...)

2. You have picked a very competitive field! When I do some Google searches and use search words to deliberately target your site, I end up with just tons of sites! If you imagine your specific target audience and then try to imagine what search words they might use in Google to find the particular stuff that you offer. Then take a very close look at the top 10 or top 20 sites that pop up when you use those search terms. What sets those sites apart? What do they have, in terms of titles and key words and a lot of other considerations, that maybe you don't have?

3. Many of the words in your title and key word lists are very general, like: accessories, african, ethnic, unique, etc.. This means you may disppear in a huge crowd! You may need to add some specificity, wherever possible, in order to stand out. A lot of your African clothes seem to be West African (Nigeria?, Benin?, Ghana?,....).
You may want to consider listing some specific countries of origin of some of your items in titles and key word lists. Remember that Africa is a huge continent with 50 countries and almost a billion people. There are great variations in cultures!
In comparison, I notice that you list "Peruvian" rather than "South American". Why not give some African countries the same honor? Some people may search specifically for "Nigerian clothes" or "jewellery from Ghana" and if you have some of those title- or key words, you would really stand out!

I make absolutely no claims on any kind of expertise in SEO, but I do belive in simplicity and logic and "empirical evidence" and all those things!

Thanks Per, your advice is most appreciated and makes good sense. Key words are something I've been having major problems with because my product range is so broad as far as how many different things I carry and various countries and such that I can't fit it all in the small amount of space they tell me to keep it in (amount of characters needing to be under 80 in most cases).

As for the reason for the Peruvian vs. the African the only deal there is that the jewelry is distinctly Peruvian from Lima Peru, and the African items are more widely created. Although some things might be created in Ghana, they aren't specific to Ghana if that makes sense? I definitely see your point though and will try to see if I can work some specificity into the African stuff and the keywords etc. Thanks very much for that info.

And yes, unfortunately I did pick a very difficult product arrangement to try to break into the field with. I didn't realize that when I started and didn't know any better is all I can say lol. I saw things I loved and wanted to sell and went for it without really having a clue what I was doing when I started. Isn't that so me!? LOL
