Trying to get my first "cup of joe" online

Trying to upload my front end wesite made in VSD and my background Shopping Cart

I'm hosting with Fat Cow
I put in the following info into the FTP setting screen

ftp server ftp.thespirituallygifted.com
username my username
password mypassword
www folder root

error is can't connect to server.
even when I go inot the test screen I can't type anything in the "Test" or "Log" area

Is there something special i need to know about Fat Cow ? Or did i miss a step ?

Also my VSD hangs sometimes when I just click the publish option.

Not sure what's wrong on the settings, but as for the hanging part, if your settings are not correct for uploading then trying to Publish will obviously hang for a bit as it's trying to connect. Hopefully someone that uses VSD will be able to be more help here. Also have you checked your server settings to see what Fat Cow requires you to put into the FTP settings? That would be the place to start I think. Usually the server will have the ftp info on it somewhere, not always, but usually lol.

You need to have Passive Mode selected when connecting to Fat Cows ftp server.

Is that selected?

Port 21 is the defalt ftp port but check that as well

I ve been away sorry for the slow response getting back to you.

I still have no luck. I have contacted Fat Cow as well but their support was not to good.

Here is what I now have in FTP setting in VSD

FTP Server : ftp.fatcow.com (also tried ftp.myusername.com)
Username: my correct user name
password: my correct password
WWW folder : / (because I am loading files into the 'root' folder )
Port: 21
Passive mode: checked (enabled)

Proxy Server: (blank not being used)

When I just use the Built in Test for FTP, I get a timeout error and usually the program VDS hangs

Does anyone see what might need to be changed.
