Web Form Builder, Form Designer &...

I would like to have a simple feedback [comment] form on a site. There are some freebies out there that seem plausible, but I'm sure there's a reason they are free. I understand - from what I have gathered here - that form designer does the front end, while web form builder does the back end. Is that correct? I have downloaded the free trials and it appears that web form builder can do both. Do I need both programs? Also, how easy is it to implement the generated form into Site Designer?

Hi Richard
First you don't need both
Web Form Builder is easy to do & publish to your site

(With a little bit of help from your friends)

Web Form Designer is a nice tool that helps you design some cool looking fancy forms, but needs the backend stuff doing.

Site designer itself has sections for forms which can be made pretty cool too, but once again needs back end stuff.

So for your requirement,, WEB FORM BUILDER is the go.

Need any help? let me know

Take care over there as always

Have you seen my new Basic form in my 'Component Shop'?
Here: https://mock-up.coffeecup.com/f-comps/f-basic-form.html
It comes with both front and back end.

What app are you using to build your website? If your using SD build your form within that.;)
Backend scripts are available from several users on this forum.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Thank you, Ladies & Gents ... I will try out these options and see what kind of a mess I can make.

Inger - I downloaded this, but it will not import into my [latest build] of SD5. When I open my project and click on components ---> forms, I see 4 items. When I try to import yours, I still see only the 4. If I click directly on your downloaded .rsd file [f-basic-form.rsd], it does open up normally, but I cannot import it. I have changed the extension to .rsdcomponent. It now "sees" the file, but still won't import. It's probably one of those mistakes only I can make.

You need to open the file first

Then you can save it to the components

I did unzip it, if that's what you mean. Nada. Cannot import it for some reason.

Sorry Richard, it is not your fault, it is mine, and also due to something that hasn't been fixed in SD yet. They have added PHP support, but not yet found how to preserve PHP files in components, so I had made it into just a zipped project file. It would have worked fine for people who start a project with this file, but I understand that you have already started quite a while ago.

I have now made it work as a regular component via a workaround, I call it an 'image hack'.

Now, download and unzip this file, then import it the normal way into SD Foundation. You should then be able to add it to your file. After that, open the Page manager and change one thing: Where it says Extension you will probably see HTML. Change it to read PHP. The page on which the form appears will now be a PHP page, and when you refer to it in the navigation, you need to call it whatever.php.
And also, make those changes to the PHP file that I have mentioned here:
