Updating form overwrites entire...

We converted to WFB 1.1 build 3261 and are hosting on our own server (windows). I realize this was really designed for the S drive program but since we host 100+ forms (all pretty much slight variations of one form) that program really would not work for us (50 form max).

So we use the self hosted publishing process. Whenever we update a form and re-export it, it appears that the export process completely overwrites the XXX_exported file folder (as opposed to overwriting each file). The problem is, I am pretty sure that is where you are suppose to place your page with the script for the form, so every time I update I have to remake the form page and reinsert the script.

Not a huge issue but certainly frustrating. Am I not getting something here?

I never place my page inside that file. :P I always have it outside that file. Just move your file outside of the form folder and redirect your links to that page, that way you will never have to redo the page and you will not have anymore problems. :D

Hiya Beer,

I think you're not putting your page in the right place maybe? The page that the form goes on does not go in the folder that the program creates, it goes outside of that folder. The Program actually creates a folder within a folder. The inside folder and the php file are the only things you need for your form files. Put those in the same directory as you are putting the page you have the form on and you should be fine.

This way if you redo your form it will not have any effect on your web page at all. And of course, this is the proper way to do it too :)

Hi sirAGE

Good workaround. I was just not sure if I was doing something wrong. The "stock" links in the script pretty much require the form host page to be in a location that creates this issue, but of course your relocation idea solves that. Much appreciated.

Hiya Beer,
Truly there is no reason to have to redirect anything for this to work. The instructions tell you to upload the "contents" of the folder that the program creates to the location that the page the form is on resides. If you do this then there is no need to edit anything to do with the structure of the form other than changes you may want to do for aesthetics.

Granted, you "can" edit the links and paths etc., just saying if you do it the way the program tells you there is no need to change anything and your page won't get overwritten because the program doesn't save the form directly to your page's directory, it saves the folder it creates to that directory, and the folder holds the contents you need to put where your page is.

Much easier than it looks I think. :)

Is there anyway when manually exporting to not have the "_exported" added to the folder name? I just like clean folder names.

No. We used to do it that way but it caused a lot of confusion. ;)
