I might be missing something very basic, but just building my first form, basic elements seem to work fine, but email address, web address (magical elements) don't seem to work, they come up just like a text field...what am I missing?

Some have some preassigned formats assigned to them so you don't have to do it or are just more technical then the others. I think CC just made it so there could be two categories for faster access.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

I am following the tutorial for the software and some of the options are just not present, like click the validate option on an email field. I think something is either not working or I am missing something.
Can you be more specific Shayne? I am not really following exactly what the problem is here.

When you drag a magical element in from the side it is supposed to have a number of preset properties, email will have placeholder set, format should be set and has an option for validation which if checked will duplicate the field so you have to enter the email address twice to validate that you typed it correctly....etc.
When I drag the email element on to the form, it looks just like a looks just like a basic text field? No different options, no preset anything, what's magical about it? what am I missing?

For the most part they are they same. You need to then click Properties to see the various options for that element.

I get that part, but when I drag the email or web address ones over, then click properties, there is no difference between these ones and a basic text field element? Shouldn't I see some different options in the properties box?
I have attached a screen grab of a email element added to a form, it even says Text Field in the properties, the second one shows a phone number element, everything looks like it is working here.

They look completely different to me. One says "Text Field" and the other says "Phone Number". How are those not different?

Also, under Phone Number, you have the "Format" option. That does not show under the Text Field.
So they are quite a bit different Shayne.

No the one I have as an email element IS the email element! In my installation this is what is happening, email elements and web address elements come over as text fields...This is what I have been trying to tell you! I tried reinstalling and it still happens like this...I am about to request a refund on this thing...
