Okay a progress report on the inaccessible S-drive form.

As usual my ISP said it wasn't them and must be CoffeeCup. I pointed out that several of you were able to access the form. So I did some "circle" testing. I used different local ISPs. We isolated one ISP that could not access the form. My Internet Provider buys its service or connects "upstream" to them. "They" are Telus, one of the biggest communication companies in the world. (Largest North American wireless provider, Canada's third-largest telecom service provider, etc, etc.)

So tickets have been issued and investigations conducted.
My ISP has just provided me with the following update:

And to the CoffeeCup team no doubt lurking on this thread, we'll let this play out. Either way, I'll post more results as they come in.

Uh. Oh boy. I've opened a can of worms here.
I should have seen this coming.

Let's just say it is one big ISP which alleges it has a complaint and is waiting for a reply. Until it gets a reply it has blocked the domain. Yikes. And that makes sense since CoffeeCup is hosting dozens of other people's sites. The allegation is one of the hosted sites is phishing.

I'll send the details privately to CoffeeCup so they can pursue the allegations.

Thanks Eric. I find it strange that they say they have tried to contact us. Did they send up a smoke signal or telegram as we have never received any emails from them. I would be interested if you could get proof of this communication and exactly where they sent it. Even if they used the default abuse@ and admin@ we would have received it, but nothing. It is very easy to reach us!

What it sounds like is someone on S-Drive put up a form that was what they consider a phishing site. Instead of locking access to that, they blocked everything. But since they never have contacted us, I cannot really say.

If you get that information, we can look at it right away.

Well, knowing your background I'm sure you've experienced this before. There are some very big companies with some very little clerks with some VERY HEAVY handed tactics. I'm sure you have your stories. I have mine. LIke an entire safety council blocked by an isp because someone else in that segment was not nice.

Anyhow. These are always hard to resolve when you get big firms with impossible to reach people.

I've passed on your info and see what I can do to broker a connection.

Thanks Eric. Once we have the details, we can address this in moments on our side and then you (or I ) can report to them it has been addressed.

If you do speak to a person there, do let them know we have those addresses available to reach us. We will always respond to them very quickly as we take those issues seriously.

If the ISP has an issue with a CC hosted site, they should really take it up with CC rather than block the entire hosts sites.

CC would love to know who (if any) S-Drive user is abusing the service, and deal with them accordingly.

It's such a sign of the times, "everyone for themselves" instead of actually tackling the issue.

This ISP could have reported the rogue site (if, in fact, there is one!) to CC and asked that they deal with their user. But, no... Instead, they take the easy way out and put up a flag against anything hosted with S-Drive.

Sad, but true. Eventually the futility of such behavior will become apparent to these clowns, let's hope it's sooner rather than later

Yes and it gets worse. It took me a lot of work to convince everyone of what I was seeing. See, what Telus has done is let stuff into the site but not out. So it is rather hard to discover. It isn't like they put up a reply that says "this page is blocked" or "this address is blocked" no they have done it dirty with some internal coding.

But. I'll wait for the facts.

I just received an email from Telus that they have removed the block. Thank you Eric!!

That may in some bit be in competition with each other... wouldn't be the first time some over zellious employee decided to stick it to some percieved compedator.

So to tie up this thread, the form wasn't available because an ISP put a block in place and created a black hole. Stuff could go in but not out of the address. It was regarding a site that CoffeeCup had addressed some weeks ago.

As Scott said, and I confirm, the block is removed and I can access the test form.

So. Back to the REAL job at hand.
