First section are the customer form questions after as a friend filling out and sending the form for a favor to me to test it and give feedback.

* filled out form & #s, pushed submit.
Came back error.
* changed the numbers to reflect new image. Pushed submit.
* successful form submission, except an IP address appeared as last entry...question, is that mine you're collecting, or is it yours? Why do I need to see that?
* pushed back button...oh dear...what other choice is there. No thank you appeared, or what to do next, or have a nice day, or click X to exit. We will review your submission and contact you at X or Y. What about text?
Was asked to go back to website & redo form and resubmit
Tried to do so...seemed info was there with new #s to enter. Did so. Pushed submit, form came back empty if my data...screwed up page, needs some work.

My reply to friends/customers feedback/questions

When you successfully sent the form, it did send you the notification that you had successfully sent the form. I think that it does congratulate for the successful send and maybe thanks you. I do not remember because i have not saved a screen shot of any of those. I sent the form to myself 3 times, and do not remember all that was on the notification after successful send of the form. Going back would yield the previous error entries because going back goes back. Your really not supposed to go back after successful send.
Are you serious about the front porch stuff Joe Smoe? I think that the IP address is so that I can confirm that the email given is the one from the form fill out so that possibly avoids people fill out forms and giving other peoples email addresses. If they did give another email address they should i would think say so in the comments section. So the form does not make provisions for going back, other than for going back to fix errors. I would not expect it to do so. When you have an error and need to re-do information as happened to you it does make provisions for that, that is good. Then you need to go back and then you can go back and then proceed. After successful send there is not the need to go back.
When filling out the form and having to go back and doing so and correcting and then proceeding and then successfully sending and getting the successful send notification and then going back when there really is not the need. It is unreasonable to expect the form to appropriately respond to that contingency. It is a contingency.
It does yes respond well to the contingency of error entries when filling out the form. One thing that I am mulling over changing is the little asterisks that signify required field, I might change that to in parenthesis (required). People might not recognize the asterisks for meaning that , there is no note explaining that and that is a shortcoming. If the purpose of the asterisks is universally known well enough to use for that then perhaps just making them more bold to show up better would be good enough.
Web site design gets into lots of little nuances.

The only issue i see here is that you have your form opening up and people are directed away from your website. I would suggest building a page for your form within your website so people don't have to hit the back arrow to get to your site again.

Steve, thank you very much for the feedback. I plan on making like 20 to 40 or even 70 painting jobs completed slide shows for customer viewing. I plan to make these stand alone and link to them from their respective main topic pages such as interior, exterior, commercial, specialty. Stand alone does away with lots of scrolling and long pgs on mobile devices.
Is it really so bad leaving and going back to the site. When you click the go back it does go back to the site? I have never used mobile device so I am not familiar with some of this stuff.
Isn't it important on the small devices to not have big pgs or to reduce pg size due to the nature of the mobile devices?
Does the form filling out person on the mobile device at the time of fill out the form have any other option other than going back to the previous pg.? Can they at that time leave the site? Are they likely to make that choice after having just filled out the form? I am mulling over why it is so bad to leave and go back to the site? Guess that I need that explained to me.

Personally I feel its unprofessional to be taken away from the main website to fill out a form. Hitting the back button on the browser is just a royal pain and should not be part of navigation expectations. Its really easy to do, just create a duplicate page and only have the form on that page.

I posted a good example in another forum yesterday. Click the request quote button and see how more professional it looks. Doing it this way will allow the user to continue on looking at your website very easily.

Just my two cents

OK Steve, I went to your example and filled out the form and sent and got the notification of successful send. Then I did the go back, and yes it does go back to filling out the form again which is highly undesirable. So yes I will be putting it on its own pg so that having to go back is not necessary. Thank you for the suggestion. Took me going through the process to understand why its problematic.

Another option is to use a html element and place a link back to your home page.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Exactly Eric, I was just going to suggest that. Make your return link to your home page.

Edit* Reading closer I didn't mean what you were saying Eric but that is another good option. I would suggest that you change the settings in WFB to navigate back to your home page by default after the form is submitted.

You can do what you like but thats what I would do.

Eric and Steve, Thank you for your comments. I went on the app and changed the setting to return to home pg after entry. That was the quickest easiest fix. I plan to return later to the issue and have it navigate to html element and put in there all of the polite and professional things ethical and etiquette ly required after the submission of a form. With the navigate back to home pg you do not get successful notification and thanks. Its a suitable provision until properly fixed. Thank you.
