What is a recursive #INCLUDE chain? -...
When I try to upload an edited index page, the page is displayed to me online with this sentence at the top left of my page "There is a recursive #INCLUDE chain", and my index page remains the same as before I edited it. Help please!
Can we have the link to your page?
"An Apple doth not fall far from its tree, yet an orange does."

Obviously you are running SSI (server sides includes), but your server doesn't support it. That is typical for Windows servers.
You can contact your host and ask if SSI can be installed, or you can create your includes as .asp.
If you are contacting your host, they might tell you that SSI is a bit outdated and that they will not install it. Then ask if they have php installed. If so, you can create php includes.
If this is all gobbledegook to you by any chance, we're here to help.
