RSS is still good for backlinks? -...

I had a peer tell me tonight they are doing very well creating rss feeds for more backlinks. Even though google is penalizing for dup content, it still places value on outbound links in rss feeds and the greater the amount of directories you're listed in, the more links you have. Google does discuss dup content briefly in rss and discourages having it search-able, and states that a trackback link is recommended, but what grinds my gears is that GOOGLE syndicates it's own content. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I stopped using rss to provide backlinks at the end of 2009, but am looking at it again on a limited basis. Also, that article is from 2007 when dup content penalty was very minimal and much different.

My bad. I personally don't worry about trying to advance my search Engine standings by various linking methods. I tend to code the page correctly for the best seo and leave it at that.
CoffeeCup... Yeah, they are the best!
