Hey guys, sorry if anyone's been visiting my site to check on the progress & given up over the last week. My sorry excuse for videos cards packed up & crashed the week before last & I only got my computer back on Friday & even then only sort of working.

I have a pair of NVIDIA GTX470's that have been nothing but misery picking on whatever chips & Windows updates that crossed their paths.

At any rate, I have one working video card (the other worked at the store but refused to play nice once it got home) and 2 nice Dell U2711's which are suppose to have a resolution of 2560x1440 but in the screen setup the only option I have is "Default Monitor" with a max resolution of 1600x1200 which is just under 1/2 the pixels I should have on screen & distorted now as well.

You'd think it would be a simple plug & play matter - plug it in the computer would greet it with open arms... the 470's have ample room also for 2 monitors so I plugged the other monitor into the compliant card but no...

Any suggestions?

And no, I've already considered finding the nearest wheat silo & hurling it from the highest point but I'm holding off on that option for the time being.

PS - I'm going to check back at the repair shop on tomorrow. Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions to get me started in the meantime. Tomorrow's just a long long time away with everything on screen so wide...

Considering I use a 14 " monitor I only need the motherboard to run it However I did get a video card from my son also a NVIDIA GTX470 which did speed things up. I haven't a larger enough monitor to test however.

If I was you to get my site going I would run with what does work whilst the card problem was fixed. I would have thought the one card should handle it ok. Maybe not gaming as I suspect you have those cards for.

Problem was nothing would work and it wasn't just the card - I knew I'd be offline while it was getting fixed & as painful as it was I needed it getting right. My technical expertise doesn't extend very far.

And no, I really don't have time for gaming. I usually have Photoshop, Illustrator & Indesign running while doing video editing/processing. I couldn't even comprehend going back to something like 14inches. I do recall the days when I forked out $1500 for my Sony 15" CRT... these days it's out to pasture keeping the back door from blowing open

At times Win does not recognize your monitor.
Have you downloaded the drivers for your monitor from the manufacturer ??

Thanks Mike, I did download the drivers from Dell & ended up with 3 files (all named U2711) - a Security Catalogue, ICC Profile & setup info files.

I tried right clicking on the ICC profile file & then selected Install but that does nothing. I did try restarting the computer but I still just have the default monitor.
