Thanks for the help.
moving website to another company -...
After quite a bit of poor service I am switching a site to another provider. My problem is the current provider is really dragging their feet in providing what I need for the change over. Any one have experience with this? What can I do to force the issue with them any suggestions. It is a .com address. Is there some www organization I can contact?
Thanks for the help.

Hello
The first case I dealt with, the client's previous developer/designer kept putting us off – telling her one thing then sending rude emails to me. Fortunately, her site was with a commercial hosting company and we eventually tracked it down (I think it was a re-seller of a re-seller through GoDaddy). She also found her long-lost log-in info after she got desperate enough.
The recent one was way worse... it was hosted on the designer's private server and we discovered he had registered the domain names and email addresses under his own name. Two and a half months of snarky, rude emails were all it took to get that sorted!
In both situations, I had a lot of help from Scott getting the domain names transferred to new hosts (and rightful owners). I think knowing that a professional web software/hosting company was getting involved helped things along.
Tom, do you (or the site owner) have the required account info? Receipts (credit card records) for the hosting and/or domain name?
If it gets really nasty, go here... http://www.icann.org/en/help

I believe in all cases it is the ownership of the domain that is important, many many years ago I went with a host who threw in the domain.however it is probably in their name. I am fortunate as they have always given a good service. I have often thought whats in a name. I notice Tom that you have a few domain names so consider how much they mean to you. One option let them expire, use them up. get a new host with new names. I know it depends on traffic you are receiving but I have switched some sites with different names and the interest still seem the same. My first site went up over 10 years ago, nothing much has changed except bandwidth and faster speeds.

I learn't the hard way, FREE DOMAIN with hosting i purchased, never did get that one sorted
However i can offer a little possible assistance here
Domainmonster.com have a nice automated transfer IN option
If you open an account with them (its FREE) and use the transfer in option, put the domain name in you want to transfer they do the rest for you, as long as the present holder plays ball, i have used it numerous times very successfully
And they are cheap to buy through, with a very user friendly control panel
Tip 2 : buy the other exstentions and host temporarily on one of those and tell your google webmaster accounts off the transfer, all your search results will automatically then go to the new domain, and slowly but surely it will take over from your original anyway
if you need hosting advice / help send me an email via my Delorean email address
Don't forget to re set the country specifics if your not wanting worldwide
