Hi all, I started a discussion forum external from my own website, on Yahoo. It is horrible and I shall get rid, before it starts to grow.
I downloaded a trial of live chat from CC but that is not what I need. I am quite happy to put a discussion forum within my website, for everyone, not just QES members, but I suspect it is complicated to set up.
I have never seen an add-on to CC HTML Editor, but I would like something from somewhere.
Wot - u - thinK?

Try Simple Machines forum. It's really simple to customize with all the free themes.

Yes, Tony, go for SMF, as Eric says. I know the Yahoo groups are horrible :o

We have asked CC if they want to make us a forum, but so far they have been busy with other things...

Hi Inger, Eric,
A quick look at the SMF website scared the life out of me......a bit of learning to do.
But, my thanks to you
Tony ;)

Hiya Tony,

If you need any help at all with the forum just hollar, I've set up a few of them with SMF and added the Portal even and a few mods. It's not as hard as it looks once you get your mind around how the Admin panel works.

Also if you have access to your cPanel for your server you should look there first before trying to install it manually. Many cPanel software setups include the SMF Forum as part of their package so it might be as easy as just installing it there.

Holler if you need any help :)

Tony, It's really easy. I just opened the PHP index theme file for the darking theme using CC HTML editor of course, and edited the home text to point to my website instead of back to the forum. Kinda fun.:P

YW Tony, let us know how it goes and if you need assistance, and thanks on the Avatar lol.

Go for it James, you can have a nice forum setup in less than an hour using SMF :)
