You're right. I have never seen another forum where moderators move posts to appropriate areas and then post an in depth explanation as to why it was done. And polling the forum members before deleting a thread is virtually unheard of elsewhere. It's the little things that make it special. :)

Why are you now closing threads that have been answered? What if someone else wishes to comment or question on the subject? A new thread must be started? A forum is not a support ticket system that you close the ticket after you reply.

Even on other forums where they put answered in the thread title, they don't close the thread. The only threads that should be locked are forum announcements and threads that have gone out of control.

I would have to agree here, I wish I had seen your post prior to emailing and asking the same question lol. Anyways, I'm sure we'll be able to work out a standard. Give us a little time Tom we've been trying to work together to get some things standardized on here so we all know what's going on, takes a little time to all get on the same page :P

You guys are doing a great job, too. I know I came across sounding harsh. Sorry.

Tom. I was the one who closed the thread.

If a question has been asked and the heading for that question/thread is very specific to a single problem which is then resolved, there is no point in leaving the thread open to new, generic problems.

If the title of the thread is open-ended, then yes - it would seem a good idea to leave it open to other, similar and related problems about the same software or technical content/hitch.

It isn't easy to moderate these forums. Out of a dozen mods more or less, there are only ever less than half of them available to help out due to personal and professional commitments. We have had to tighten our methods in order to create some kind of order in here. The difference is that we try to do it by being "nice" at the same time. That isn't always appreciated and a couple of us get more unpleasant reactions than others. There would seem to be no logical reason for that, but there is nothing nice about coming back into the forums to find yet again another pointed and unwarranted comment regarding one of our decisions.

Not a good start to our day.

Thank you for your time dedication to moderate the forum. It's appreciated. I think you guys are trying too hard. That's all.

On most forums, you wouldn't know who the moderators were unless it was displayed next to their name. They intervene only when inappropriate language is being used. This forum has thrived for years without such intervention. Most do.

Had bad experiences with mods in the past-not on this forum,..the abuse of power thing,..had a conflict with one of my contractors when we just started working together and they posted some of my personal information(reason #284 to use aliases on forums),..after I complained, I had infractions left and right..but not enough to get banned,..small things,..the infractions expired over a year ago, and I still use the contractor(can code anything), but the attitude on the mods from my complaint left a bad taste. Never see any of this behavior here.

I still don't know where this thread is heading. Oh wait, I'm going nowhere am I? :P

Well CC's forum has been the only one that stands out from all the forums that I know of, and it certainly feels as if it's not moderated at all, like as if it needs moderation when everyone is trying to help everyone else in here?

I think that's the winning formula, that when you set out to make things better for someone else, it becomes better for you too.
My tee shirt site http://www.teedojo.com, warmly and fuzzily done with SCC + SCD. I kinda like it even if I've yet to sell any shirts! Hah!

Catch me and say hi!. I don't bite, but I will help you with your website so you can kickstart your web presence today.

Well, I would like to add my pennys'-worth, if I may. CC product is awsome. I have acheived my first website, (all coded in the HTML Editor). There is no way I could have done it without the Senior advisors/Ambassadors and most of all other registered users of the software. OK my website is noot the best we will ever see, but without all being involved, it would not be there at all. Hah! you wait till I start on a revision using HTML5 and CSS 3 then the **** will hit the fan, but I know the support is there from the top down. If there is a need for users to help keep things a little bit tidy, why not? it's in all OUR INTEREST.! You never know, I might get confident enough to offer support myeslf some day and give something back to the organisation. Keep up the great work.
