Going nowhere threads - Page 1

Hi All
On a couple of occasions this week, in agreement with the person who originally set up a thread, I have deleted the specific thread in question. The reason for this was that the original poster asked a question, and within a couple of their own subsequent posts, answered themselves! There was no technical input nor specific software discussion involved.

Rather than create confusion and another non-specific thread, please give a shout to Forum Admin if you think that perhaps you have started up a similar short "going nowhere" thread which can be removed from the forum without loss of important, software, resources or coding specific information. Helping us to keep the forum as "tidy" and useful as possible will be much appreciated and will be beneficial to all.

Many thanks indeed.

Sorry, I am contributing to this problem. I am new, and I kind of lose my mind sometimes!
I think your suggestion is grand. Thanks again for finding solutions to this issue.

Janys,

I believe Coffee Cup is in phase 2 of business life cycle -- growth --- they need help with the forum support..

The forum is alive and well. The trusted support possible is lacking but their product is like Word for Windows 1.0 ..

The cost of their products is so affordable, I can understand why their support form is not good. It's not their fault -- cost of product support is costly...

Self-Support is awesome and by the way... you're not alone. Experts-Exchange.com was free and now paid... I remember Experts-Exchange was way new and way free. now.. to see solution.. you must pay. thank god I have an account that is grand fathered in as no payment required.... I log in with with my original account and password, and voila.. it works.. bad door account and password..

Coffee Cup has a GREAT set of products and great website... I don't want to see Coffee Cup go open-source and free and get posted on SourceForge.net.... I would prefer a paid product and good support and good bug fixes.. and upgrades and maintenance releases to keep up with the SEO changes of the web... and HTML / W3C needs..

ps. this is not a rant, but a new user and customer as of 3 months...

Andy, future CTO / CIO of Coffee Cup --DOH! - who loves a great challenge..... okay.. maybe just a Coffee Cup Professional Advisor (CCPA)... a new TLA!!.. okay FLA.. three letter.. (TLA).. four letter .. (FLA)...

Andy. For quite some years now, a smallish number of us have volunteered to keep an eye on the forum. Each of us has the usual commitments... you know the kind... family, work, friends, kids, interests... which allow us to get in here more or less often to keep tabs on things. Generally speaking everything runs pretty smoothly and we let things ride, but sometimes the edges get a little ragged and we attempt to combine our energies to get things back on the rails. It has to be said that a few of the volunteers are much more constant in their vigilance than others (and I include myself in the others)... and it is thanks to them that non-specific content occasionally gets shunted over to the right place, accompanied by a pleasant note warning the OP that everything has moved.

But it must not be forgotten that this "job" also involves facing up to the less pleasant situations which arise occasionally forcing us to take decisions about what is appropriate or not... and to make ourselves heard... and even unpopular. We are extremely lucky to have CC behind us who spend so much time in the forums themselves answering questions and giving advice. But let's face it... let them get on with making excellent software!

At the end of the day, assuming we are all mature adults, there should be no reason for the forum to not function properly... choosing the right place for software specific postings... or the right place to laugh and joke and talking about the state of grandmother's false teeth (which reminds me that my mother took hers out carefully and rolled them in a paper napkin one day we went for a picnic up in the mountains... it was only later that she realised that the napkin had been thrown away with the other picnic stuff in the garbage can. But we were already 200 miles away.....:( )

Glad to see you participating in the forums Andy. It is always a good sign when new people start joining in. :D

These forums originally started out with just one forum. The primary goal was just for users to talk to one another. More of a BBS sort of thing. As we added more programs, we started adding more threads just to make it easier for the users to organize their thoughts and find information easier.

The forums however were never designed to be a form of technical support from us directly. We have been so blessed that we have some of the most dedicated and fanatical CoffeeCup fans on the planet donating their time to help other users out. These are people from all walks of life from all around the world donating their time to help others. I think that is just so cool!

If someone requires help, we offer e-mail and phone support, so reaching us directly is just only a few clicks or a call away. Some support can be handled over forums when not much personal information is needed, but if a user is having problems with uploading for example, we need to have more sensitive information from them, so putting that inside of our support room is much more secure.

I try to monitor the forums when time permits, so from time to time I may miss certain posts. It is not for a lack of caring, more that there is just so much time in the day. ;)

Hi Scott and Janys,

My passion is helping people. Thanks for letting me post my thoughts and needs. Your help is most appreciated.

How did all this get started? Total Refrigeration Service of Arkansas needed a website update.

http://www.trsar.com

My wife/ex-wife JoJo Flagg / JoJo Seljan is a graphic designer. She needed a tool set that was graphically oriented that could meet the owners needs.

ps. it's rudimentary right now, but JoJo is working on it.. She is new and a novice but growing fast.

it's not like the website I just finished and demonstrating using your CC package for http://www.renosparkspropertymanagement.com

I spent nearly 2 weeks looking at open-source and paid solutions.. then I remembered how Coffee Cup was a cute tool, but had potential...... so I downloaded the demo... tried it.. know my customer and partners were programming type challenges, and found VSD (visual site designer to be the best)... so instead of wasting time.. I bought two complete sets of both packages... one set for Mountain Computers, and another for Mountain Marketing... yep.. sort of expensive.. but really affordable.

Note: the cost of CC is nothing like the costs of 4 sets of Adobe Creative Suite CS4,, which I have two complete OEM legal sets and use for higher end needs (which I believe is worthless) and higher end customers through both companies.. Mountain Computers and Mountain Marketing...

When I find a great tool set like what CC offers, and by the way, I checked out over 12 different free and paid sources, and found only CC to be close enough for my staff and partners to be able to use and understand without learning HTML coding.

Andy... sounds like you started a "love affair" with CC just like I did a few years ago! Continue to enjoy and feel free to bring your own CC experiences and problems in here where you will find many people with similar stories to your own who have built up a good foundation of knowledge over time and which they are always ready to share.

I know in the past I have answered my own questions, but try to acknowledge others trying to help. I would post a solution so if someone else finds the thread, they have an answer to the problem. I feel this is one of the top overall forums for web design layouts, css and is great for new designers,..some of the other forums you get blasted by spammers, virus worms,..etc..just sayin'

Gee, you guys actually send a nice note to the OP and let them know their post is being moved or deleted? That's so nice. Other forums, my posts get slammed dunk into file 13 and nary a word is said as to why. :P

I moderate two forums and I try to be kind to others. I even give spammers a chance (well, only a small chance) to do right before I delete their posts.

Starting to like this forum. Just keep me going in the right direction.
