Uploading to YouTube and using that as the source on your site is not a bad idea. You are then, to some extent, letting them (YouTube) take care of video formats, compatibility issues and such...

I quite like 'Video Lightbox', using either YouTube or uploaded MP4 as source. It is very easy to use and takes up only as much space on your page as you want to give it.

(I wouldn't blame YouTube for the low quality of many of the videos on that page! They are just low-quality sources from my end, due to their age and use of inadequate recording equipment... They are included for reasons of 'historic interest'... )

Vimeo ($60yr) and jwplayer ($149yr) cost too much to be an option.
I was asking about the HTML for displaying it in a slideshow because I didn't know if multi-media slideshows handle the display, or if I still need to upload 3-4 file types for the video, in which case I might as well do it myself.

For now, it displays fine and it's responsive, so I'll leave it on YouTube.

I see that's a Video Lightbox feature. I like the one-time fee ($49), rather than a subscription costing way more than the hosting for the entire site – just for one video.

One thing I'm still not clear on... If I use that (or similar), do I still need to get the video converted to Ogg and WebM also?

I just saw this post, but jwplayer has way dropped their licensing prices since the last time I looked into using them. That's great!

You Tube is my hero
For really small businesses (and with only 1 video), paying $149 every year for that one video – while paying less than $50 to host the entire site – seems a bit extreme.
