I think that there should be a simple program that will allow clients to book events using a simple form and calendar. What it would do when someone comes to book a date, it would block out that time and submit the form via email or database for later review.

It would also have the option to add employees and to block cetain times and dates, as well as in between down time per booking as set by the user.

Just an idea what do you think?

Yea, I agree with this as well, as i have needed it in my work. However, CC does not do a whole lot with database stuff. Now you can set this up within form builder and have the reservation emailed. You just have to enter the information into a database yourself, but at least it is still automated.

The problem as I see it, is not getting bookings and available dates into or out of a database, PHP can do that till the cows come home, the problem is all the background stuff needed so the system is not abused or compromised, that is where the time will go.

There is thousands of people out there that would love to latch onto a simple system and book hundreds of dates with no intention of keeping them.

Some people are talking about using CC Shopping cart to sell subscriptions, I wonder if you have say 30 reservations available each day for 30 days, and create 900 reservation tokens with CC Cart, and sell those, that way the money passes immediately.

Just a thought I don't know exactly if this would work.
