Problems getting this to work - Post...

My site was previously done with Wordpress and hosted at HostGator but I just had it redesigned in html and moved back to my ISP's web space today. Previously the sitemap was done by a wordpress plugin, but now I need to use Sitemapper, which I've had here for awhile.

The first problem is getting Sitemapper to generate JUST a XML file and upload it to my web directory.

VSD is set up to upload correctly here and shows that my server here is users.dim.com and /WWW/PBOR is the correct path for the other site of mine at http://www.PlanetaryBillOfRights.org/

For this site, the path should be: /WWW/ColoradoProcessServers but it isn't working that way when I try to upload.

I do the scan, create the sitemap.html and then go to upload it.

I have my upload server set up as Server: users.dim.com and Initial remote folder: /WWW/ColoradoProcessServers

I hit upload and get a message: Remote folder location is required. WTF?!

So after an hour of messing with this, I finally used my ftp in Altap Salamander and uploaded the html file and the xml file, which look like:

http://coloradoprocessservers.net/sitemap.html
http://coloradoprocessservers.net/sitemap.xml

The HTML file is without style, which is fine, but the xml file looks weird, not like the one the plugin used to generate. Is that ok for Google?

And why the heck cant I get the upload to work?

If you look in your full address on your FTP program, does your name or username come before the WWW?

Your sitemap.html lacks styling because you did not upload the sitemap.css file (and associated image files) generated by CC Sitemapper.

Your sitemap.xml looks correct. It is in compliance with the protocol specified by sitemaps.org:

The Initial Path is /vortex/home/m/melissa/WWW

But I tried that and same results.

I don't think the path is the problem Adam. All I ever get is the message that a remote location is required, even though one is in there. Has anyone ever gotten this uploading mechanism to work for them in this piece of software?

Oh, and it keeps deselecting the server every time the actual server box isn't open. I open the box, have to click the actual server to get ANYTHING in it to begin with, then if I click add or edit, everything in there is STILL blank until I click the Colorado Process Servers server, then it fills in the info on the settings. I click Appl and OK and close it, and get the same message when I try to upload, that a remote location is required. As if it made the whole thing blank again, the instant I closed that window. In fact if I select it again and open it, it's all blank, from the moment I closed it. The software is deselecting ALL that server info every time I close the box.
